Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate dinner on the first night in the Windjammer. This is the first time we have eaten supper in the Windjammer. We felt the food was very good. Night two was formal night so we ate dinner in the main dining room. To us the food was acceptable but we both felt the quality of the main dining room food was not as good as it has been in the past. I had the crème brûlée for dessert and the sugar tasted burnt. It did not have the great caramel flavor it normally has. For Lunch on day two we went to Sabor as I am pretty sure it will be getting replaced with Playmakers when Allure goes through its upgrade. The guacamole was one of the best I have ever had. Day three was Valentine’s Day. It is our tradition to have Hibachi for Valentine’s Day. We have a great one near us named Nagoya. So we had to book Izumi. We felt the chef was amazing. He was very talented and put on a wonderful show. The food however was good, but we felt the flavor was a bit lacking. Day four we ate dinner in Samba grill as it has been a restaurant that I have wanted to try for a while and again feel it may be removed during the dry dock. When we booked it we were told to come hungry and do not fill up on appetizers and they were not lying. My favorite dishes here were the fried banana’s, the bacon wrapped chicken, the lamb and the passion fruit dessert. The staff in this restaurant was amazing. The took such good care of us and really made us feel like we were being pampered. We scheduled dinner for 5pm and were blessed with a gorgeous sunset view.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Royal Caribbean does a great job on designing their ships with activities that meet the needs of every style of cruising. We spent a lot of time in the solarium hot tubs which was very relaxing. We also love spending time in the casino and love that Royal added a non-smoking casino on this ship. I also took advantage of the zip line while on the cruise. It is the first time I have ever zip lined. I think the zip line was a nice introduction to zip lining for any beginner who wants to see if they would enjoy it.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Royal’s staff are always so friendly and happy to assist their guests in any way. I have never had a bad experience with staff on one of Royal’s cruises.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We love the Oasis class ships. Even though the ship was full it never felt crowded. Our stateroom was recently updated. It had new carpet and a new couch. They appear to be changing the color from the navy blue to a light gray which I felt brightened the stateroom up. The cantilevered hot tubs did have some areas where paint had chipped away and you could tell they needed some TLC but that did not take away from the experience of utilizing them. There was also some rust in the solarium and other areas that I am sure will be attended to during the dry dock. Even though some areas of this ship are in need of some TLC, it was very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As I said above our cabin had went through a recent upgrade. It had a beautiful gray carpet and light gray couch that was not that old. I liked the location of the room. It was not that far from the AFT elevators. The location of the room did not have much noise from other areas of the ship. You could hear the Aqua show when it was going on, but you could not hear the boardwalk at all. The view was not obstructed. We spent every morning on our balcony drinking our coffee and reading.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast room service. I ordered a pot of coffee with cream, a glass of orange juice and pastries to our room every morning, We then were able to enjoy coffee and a light breakfast on our balcony looking out at the ocean. It was so relaxing.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We love Cococay. We have done the Cocoa Beach Club once and enjoyed it. Our beach of choice is South Beach when we do not do the Beach Club. Although this time we were in Port with Liberty of the Seas and both ships must have been full as for the first time ever we struggled to find a beach chair. This is the first time in all of our visits that this has occurred.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We did not book an excursion in Nassau. We decided we would just walk around the new Port and maybe explore the straw market. The new port was nice. It was clean and I really like that you have the choice of shops and restaurants without ever leaving the port area.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We always take advantage of the self assist disembarkation process. This cruise was no different. We left our room by 7:45 am and were in our car by 8:15 am.
