Review summary

Not the restful cruise we hoped to go on. Too many pranksters in the staff and passengers. The food was mediocre. The entertainment was lacking. Both of us got sick on the cruise. We are two 75 year old great grandparents with health issues who wanted to just celebrate our 55th anniversary in style which did not happen. Would not recommend this ship to people our age.

Our first dinner started off with the waiter saying the “chicken was finger licking good.” When we left the dinning room, we were greeted with passengers licking their finger. The meal was awful so we signed up for specialty dinning every night which was excellent.

Very little to do during the day for our age group except Bingo.

Entertainment

Mama Mia was canceled for technical difficulties, but the show Blue Planet was marvelous until the last 3 minutes when the microphones went out. Lacked variety in night club entertainment.

The cabin seemed narrow. Only one turn down service a day and bed was uncomfortable. We had an inside cabin overlooking the Boardwalk which was loud until wee morning hours. The balcony was too warm to sit on mostly because no breeze.

Ship tip

Be prepared for the large crowds and rude people. A Party hardy group.

I am just giving a review and trying to address comments. I have not gone into detail on the pranks. I know Carnivals reputation but we are going with family and friends who love Carnival. We have been on Holland twice and found it boring. I did not say we would never go on Royal Caribbean again. But doubt it. They have asked for feedback and been given it. You are right I did complain twice to the Restaurants Manager. I had a sick husband that I did not want stressed. After the second complaint, they placed me by a woman who lives 15 miles away from my small town. She spent the hour being rude and talking over me to another couple at the grill. The waiter said something like that one was for us as I left.

The waiter saying “finger licking good” did happen or I would not have written it. It seemed bizarre and embarrassing to me too. I complained to the Restaurants Manager. That might have been a mistake. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean four times and this was our second cruise on Allure of the Seas. We have cruises booked with Princess, NCL,, Viking, Carnival, and Celebrity for the next three years.

Thank you for sharing your cruise experience. I am curious like others have said about the pranksters, etc. I’ve read several other reviews from your sailing and they had completely different experiences. The large ships aren’t for everyone. Research smaller ships and possibly other cruise lines. Maybe find a great travel agent and let that person know what you are looking for and he/she can look for you. You may find something you like.

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your cruise. The larger cruise ships aren't for everyone. But some of your review I don't believe happened, like the Waiter at main dinning say "Finger licking good" 🤔 also what kind of pranks did you have? Don't believe that at all. I have been on Allure 3 times and never had either of these experiences. Also there is plenty of things to do for all ages during the day!

Don't understand your review. I have been on Royal Caribbean ships many times. Never once had a problem with staff or shows or having quiet time. I am 76 and love cruising with Royal Caribbean. I find a lot of activities available all day and evening! Guess it just depends on your mind set. I go with an open wind and to have fun and enjoy the ship as well as the ports. Never had a problem. Guess there are people who are young in their 70's and some that made up their mind that they are too old to enjoy life. Why cruise if you only feel old and want quiet! There are ships for those people but they are missing out on life. I refuse to let my age define what I should enjoy or not. At least you have a husband to enjoy life with. I am a widow and miss my husband but still am alive so want to enjoy what time I have left. Hope you find your cruise spot. Happy cruising everyone!

We sailed the allure of the Sea back in March it's a beautiful ship we enjoyed every minute of it the entertainment was excellent the food was very good even in the main dining room we had no problems we would sell this ship again in a minute

Sorry to heard about your experience. We sailed in the same date than you and we also got sick (we were a group of 8) we also had some difficulties the first two days at the MD and I also think the activities for the days at sea wasn't the best. I do think that because the ship is big and having soany days at sea can be a bit overwhelming. I do prefer ships like Freedom or Explorer definitely. I hope you can have a good experience in the future.
