Review summary

The 7-night Western Caribbean cruise is a good choice to get away and not feel like I had to get off the ship at every stop. Roatan was new for me and I booked an excursion with monkeys, sloths and iguanas. Got to hold the sloth which was a highlight for me. Cozumel is great for tequila. Did not disembark at Costa Maya as our time was cut short.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was well organized and efficient at the Terminal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Love the specialty restaurant options on the Allure. Main dining food was good but ambiance was not. Taste of Royal lunch and Chef's Table dinner were both amazing.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I am not overly athletic so my speed is the walking track. It is well positioned on the ship and a pleasure to use. The other offerings were visually entertaining.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Mamma Mia was fabulous. Several of the musical groups were terrific.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Vintages wine stewards were terrific (Richard and Roger). My room steward was perfect, always making sure everything was how I like it. Room service runners were great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship layout is good. My cabin was located midship which meant I had to walk either direction to get to elevators or stairs. Will check before doing that again. Otherwise, ship was great.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Small but functional. Single person walkway around the end of the bed. Had dripping water sounds inside the walls at night during the last couple of days which prevented me from sleeping. Otherwise room was as expected.

Ship tip

Book a cabin near the stairs/elevators to reduce how far you have to walk.

Disembarkation

Very quick and easy. Only issue I had was taking the wrong indoor parking bus which delayed my eventual departure from Galveston.

Appreciate your detailed feedback. Actually you’ll still have to walk a great distance, unless you only do activities at the end of the ship where your cabin is located. Midship is actually the best spot. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
