This was a much needed vacation and we couldn't choose a better ship to do it. Love every minute, every bite, every wow moment, the friendliness of the staff, and how safe we felt since embarkation to debarkation, and in every port excursion. Can't wait to go back!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
My check in time was 10:30 am and it was quick and easy process (have everything at hand: passport, know your cabin number and complete the check in in the royal app). They were very organized. Before 11:40 we were on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The Buffet at Royal has always MDR quality food, it's delicious and with a wide variety. Some things were already served in good portions for customers to pick up, others were full served and most of it was self served. We went to 2 specialty dining rooms, Chops and Izumi Hibachi, they both had delicious A+ food, hut the best fillet we've ever eaten, was at Izumi, A...MA...ZING!!!! MDR as always really good food, excellent service in a more lay back environment. Dinesh, our assistant waiter, brewed the best coffee.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Well, we have physical health issues like back(me) and knee(hubby) but we enjoy the regular pool and the Solarium, and the Boardwalk area. We loved to sit at the different activities and watch people like in the flow rider or the zip line for example
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Entertainment was over the top, bands, guitar players, singers and Mama Mia, ice skating show and OceanAria, they were breathtaking. That was time well spent. Don't miss any of them if you have the opportunity.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
It was just the two of us, we don't have children. But fir what we were able to see, children were well take care of and they had a blast and were entertained with different activities.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone was so attentive and engaged. The waiters in the Windjammer were always nice and helpful. In the MDR Dinesh and Benzely were just wonderful, as so the waiters in the specialty dining rooms. We noticed that they had a lot of new employees who were in training.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Love that the ship is organized in neighborhoods. The sip is so big, that sometimes you had to go down one floor walk to the other side and then go up to be able to go to the next neighborhood. I should've chosen a longer trip to see a little bit more hahaha
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very spacious cabin, nice bathroom. It has a lot of space to put our stuff. It has a couch. And the balcony was nice. We choose the right side of the ship and in 2 of our stops, we were port side, I'll ne we were facing the ocean but we were still able to see part of the island. The room was always clean, and no weird smells. And as it's located in the middle, away from the pool, and the disco, we were always relaxed and able to take naps at any time we wanted on sea days. We also loved that we were close to everything, specially the Central Park (one floor down) which we loved.
Ship tip
Here's what we did, we navigate thru the ship's map ti see were was everything located so we could choose the best cabin for us, keep in mind when choosing your cabin that those very close to the pool area and late music and dancing, are going to be noisy. If you suffer from motion sickness, mid ship is the way to go. Book everything in advance, it's cheaper. If you see a good price on the Planner and you have the money, buy it, if the price goes diw5n you can always change it but if it goes up, you missed your chance. I went to the Planner almost every day to check on prices and was able to save. Use the app!!! It has all the daily activities, and the menu' fir every restaurant including the MDR's fir each day and you can make dinning and entertainment reservations without having to make the line at Customer Service. Don't over pack, be organized, bring cash including small bills for tipping ashore, relax and enjoy.
This is a beautiful island, our tour guide was very nice and friendly. The bus was too small, barely could walk to get to our seats. We felt that we were on a run, but at the end we stop at a beach and had lunch and it was really good.
