3rd cruise of Allure since startup. Low passenger count & energetic staff made for a truly great experience despite us having to wear masks indoors on the ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
26 minutes from arrival at Terminal to being onboard. Showed negative COVID test results 3 times, but all went smoothly. NOTE: We learned early on that there were only 1624 passengers & 1800 crew. It was the 1st time crew outnumbered passengers. This helped with outstanding service, I'm sure.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate in main dining most nights, and experience was good as usual. Note that the buffet was NOT open for dinner on this cruise, which was not convenient for some. Crew fills your soda cups at drink machines, & serves you at buffet. Passengers touch nothing for food/drink serving, which was great, actually.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Note that Fitness Center had varying hours for vaccinated & those children not vaccinated. The staff was cleaning everything constantly.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Mamma Mia was enjoyed by the Wife. Note that due to COVID constraints there was no Quest Show, Newlywed Game, or other such shows. Headliner Tony Tillman was good. Comedians were much funnier in the small Comedy Club for adults than later in the theater for all ages.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was simply awesome. Very excited to see passengers back & themselves back to work. They worked so hard to make our cruise great, and always had smiles & greetings. Cabin steward Igede made our trip outstanding. He rocks.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Love the Allure. Even with restrictions, there was always something to do or someplace to go. Crew cleaned constantly, especially elevators & high touch areas.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We were able to book a Grand Suite with the reduced pricing during Pandemic. Loved it.
Ship tip
If you're sailing soon, you'll enjoy low passenger count, easy to get elevators, deck chairs, & bar service!
Beautiful area, plenty to do, friendly people glad to have tourists back. We rode a taxi to Marigot, on the French side, since we had already been to Philipsburg on Dutch side several times.
Same St. Thomas. We docked in Crown Bay, which is a couple miles from main street. We went to SkyRide ski lift to Paradise Point. Beautiful view, but very few people there enjoying it.
By far the best stop. Royal has really outdone themselves with the development of this private island. We did the Coco Beach Club day pass, and could have stayed there a few more days.
We were given a 8:15a assigned departure time, and were told to stay in cabin & watch TV channel 2 for exact time. We had them remove luggage the night prior. TV told us our 8:15 group could leave at 7:50! We walked off ship & into terminal, cleared a facial recognition Customs/Immigration checkpoint, got our luggage, and were out front waiting for our car service by 8:12a. Wow.
