Review summary

Overall, a great cruise on a great ship. The excursion in Nassau needs some serious re-evaluation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All of the food was outstanding!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools were great, but for such a huge boat with so many guests they were crowded but that is to be expected. The adult only area could have used a larger pool for sure. Spa was wonderful.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were outstanding. I've seen Mama Mia several times live and this performance was one of my favorites.

Children's Programs

Children didn't really participate.

Service and Staff

Our dining room wait staff was wonderful. Made and Serafinus were so great!

Ship tip

Even though it was a huge ship with around 6000 guests and 2000 crew, it never felt too crowded. It was amazing!

Ports of call

Basseterre, St. Kitts

No excursion.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

This port was a change in itinerary. We were originally supposed to go to St. Thomas. We were there a couple of days after the riots started and were worried about taking our kids off the boat. It was fine and we never felt unsafe, but it was evident that San Juan was in turmoil. There was graffiti everywhere with foul words sprayed everywhere, just not the best experience.

Nassau, Bahamas

We chose this itinerary so we could go to Nassau and the excursion to Atlantis. Atlantis was amazing once we got there. This is my only major complaint about the whole experience. We pre-ordered the Atlantis excursion through Royal and were glad we did because it sold out. Our family that we traveled with weren't able to purchase it through Royal so they got theirs through CruisesOnly. Theirs did not come with transportation. Ours did. HOWEVER, Royal notified us that the stay in Nassau had to be cut short by an hour, so our excursion was cut short. They offered a 15% refund which was fine. But the day of the excursion it took from 10:50am (meeting time on ship) to 12:30pm (arrival at Atlantis) to get us from the boat to Atlantis. My family who had to take a cab got to Atlantis a full hour before us. So, not only did the port get cut short but our day at Atlantis ($189/person family of 5) was cut even shorter by the utter and complete disorganization of the excursion team. I realize these are not Royal employees, however, you should reconsider the contractor that you use for the excursion. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.
