Review summary

Overall good cruise with no major issues but many smaller ones. Cancellation of Labadee a major disappointment but without additional information on nature of medical emergency, we cannot fault the action taken.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy, especially with preregistering.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in general was good but not outstanding. Scheduling was disorganized as only 8 PM or "MyTime" was available when booking cabin and website said to consult once on board to schedule but once boarded, only 8:15 available at the earliest. They did fit us in most nights but should not have to jump through hoops; could have taken 8:00 if we wanted to eat that late. Specialty restaurant (Giovanni's) was very good. Buffets handled crowds but selection not that varied day to day or on any given day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty of activities but often schedules conflicted. Not too crowded except for last two sea days, especially with Labadee cancelled.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Poor scheduling. 7:30 Mama Mia show difficult to make whether early or late dining. Water and Ice Skating shows very good but again could be difficult to make depending on dining choice. Music too loud especially in public areas: Central Park should be a tranquil retreat but sound from pool area is distracting. Piano bar volume too loud. Other than music for dancing, background music in Windjammer, bars when no performers, public areas too loud.

Children's Programs

No children in our party.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Individual servers and stewards did a good job but many areas understaffed, especially servers at the buffets, boarding on the islands.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Generally very good, beautiful design that handles the number of passengers. Many areas need refurbishing (furniture in bars worn, stains and wear in cabins, etc. but nothing that was not usable.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size good. Clean but signs or wear. Closet size excellent. Other storage could be better. Needs more outlets; even with power strips or extension cords, wires had to be run across to go from desk to bedside.

Ship tip

Ignore website and be sure to schedule dinner before if you want earlier than 8 PM dinner.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Just embarked and disembarked (live in FL).

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Relaxing to just take water taxi to Philipsburg and go to beach.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island) Did not visit port

Canceled due to medical "emergency" that caused return to San Juan. No reasonable explanation why helicopter or Coast Guard boat could not have come to us rather than lose 6 hours and cause cancellation.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and able to handle 6,400 passengers without delays.
