We were obviously disappointed with the Allure this time around and know that the change in staff is what made the difference. As soon to be Diamond Class members we would suggest that RCCL bring back some of the Phillipino Staff that was all sent to the newer ships.
"Yo Man" is fine by the pool but not working in the formal dining rooms and specialty restaurants, especially if they want to continue showing obvious bias, goofing around and not doing their job. Better look into this RCCL.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived around 1:30 and the process was quick and easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Specialty Dining food quality and service has changed and not for the better. Chops Grille was a total disappointment this time. We were on the Allure last year and in contrast enjoyed Chops so much that we ate there three times. This year was a complete mess. Staff was not friendly and the service was terrible. Asked to try a different entrée and was told that there would be an up charge? Really? Food quality has slipped as well. The change from a Phillipino Staff to a "whatever" was a real bad decision IMHO.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Daily Planner was not accurate and cruise director was in hiding.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Entertainment was great as always.
Children's Programs
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
They were mostly interested in paying attention to their own "Yo Man" fellow passengers and made it very obvious. What the hell has happened ?
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The ship layout is fine and we know it well. The cleanliness was another thing. Again, the change in staff was obvious. Many fellow passengers as well as myself all got sick with flu symptoms about 4 days into the cruise. There were lots of dirty dishes, cups, etc. always sitting on tables in the Sorentos and Café Promenade. We had to "Bus" tables many times, just to be able to sit down and eat.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Never saw or met our cabin attendant. His idea of a towel animal was rolling up a towel and throwing it on the bed. RCCL should consider re modeling these cabins so we can get into the closet. The doors and entry are blocked by the TV on the wall. The TV/magazine rack configuration is a total waste of space.
Ship tip
Avoid the Vivo Beach Club excursion in San Juan. The place is pretty and the pool is nice. However, the ocean is full of rocks and boulders making it very dangerous. A lady on our tour almost died after falling on the rocks. Also, the lunch was a joke. The whole tour was not worth 110.00 per person. Find a different beach if you want to enjoy the ocean safely.
Too crowded, too hot with very little shade. The old Labadee back 10-15 years ago was great. Bigger is not better. Also, the drink prices changed from one person to the next for the exact same drink? What's with that? Happened on the ship too. Corona's price would change from one bar to the next??????? Not Good RCCL!
