Review summary

The specialty restaurants are really worth it for adults. Also really enjoyed having the deluxe beverage package! The entertainment on board was great and the room TV always seemed to have something to watch. Didn't think the VOOM was worth it - none of my Facebook post pictures ever posted. Really enjoyed St. Maarten but time in port in Puerto Rico was so abbreviated (departure was originally 3, then moved back to 1:30 and we were advised to board by noon to avoid the long lines) that we were unable to do more than get brunch at a cafe. Also - Haiti - they don't warn you but the beach is VERY rocky - there was no where I found that I could go in the water since we left our swim shoes on board. Also - they did not tell us that our 15 year old kids sailing with us had to leave the boat with us. They tried to leave later (had all their documents and staff confirmed that we were on the island) and they were not allowed to get off the boat. All the days at sea were great and we will definitely cruise with RC again - but we feel like we learned a few lessons about cruising.

The Windjammer and cafes were always a reliable option. Chops Grille was definitely worth the up charge!

Cabin / Stateroom

The mattress is a little too firm and the pillows were uncomfortable until our stateroom attendant hooked us up with memory foam replacements - heaven.

Ship tip

We really enjoyed hanging out on the Promenade at the Bow and Stern and people watching in the evening - there was always something interesting going on!

We booked an excellent snorkel adventure through the site recommended by our Cruises Only travel agent - The group was smaller (about 20 people) and we had an awesome time on the "Awesome" captained by Kevin and first mate Debbie - Captainalan.com

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Time in port was so short we were only able to grab brunch and head back to the ship

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

The beach was so rocky we ended up going back to the ship (if we had known we would have brought swim shoes) - also the security would not allow the 15 year olds travelling with us to meet us on the island - also would have been good to know

The first two-thirds of the beach on Labadee is pretty rocky but you have to go all the way to the end part that turns 90° to the Rocky shoreline find the beautiful sand. It's definitely a nice Beach but it's a decent walk to get there. Thanks for the information noting that non adult children cannot leave the Ship Without You. I understand your disappointment in that situation however if you look at it the other way, parents getting back to the ship and finding out that their non adult child had left without them they might have a much more serious reason to be concerned, safety should rule over convenience even on a cruise.
