Review summary
My husband and I are well seasoned cruisers, and quite frankly, we waited a long time to cruise on the Allure of the Seas. We thought it would be too big, we would feel crowded, and we would not experience the personal touch as we always do with RCCL. How could attention be paid to over 3500 passengers? Once we boarded, and from the time we disembarked, RCCL again surpassed our expectations! Everyone we talked to agreed! There were however, a few things that could be addressed. RESERVATIONS! I am glad that we made them a few weeks pre-cruise, and was glad I did. Many of our fellow passengers did not, and were disappoited that most of the shows were either "sold-out" or standing room only. The other disappointment was our cabin, which was not the fault of the cruise line. We had a balcony overlooking Central Park based on the recommendation of a loyalty ambassador aboard ship on a previous cruise. It was so sad that we couldn't wake up to the beauty of the ocean, or the uniqueness of the ports. We faced another expanse of balconies across the park area. It was like living in a big city and facing an apartment building. We really felt bad every morning! We couldn't leave the curtains open, because of the proximity of the across the park balconies, so what was the point of the window, and the balcony. We didn't feel any privacy. So, the next time we cruise on a ship in this class, we would definitely not choose this type of balcony or the ones overlooking the Boardwalk area. Again, our cruise , in spite of the cabin, was wonderful and what keeps us "loyal to Royal"!
