Our first cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship was awesome! It did not turn us Loyal-to-Royal but we will definitely cruise RC again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was very organized and the fastest we’ve ever experienced.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was okay. Nothing to shout about. We ate at the Windjammer mostly. Did Formal Night in the main dining room. Johnny Rockets was very good. Had The Key, so our first meal (lunch) was hosted by Chops Grill. The food was okay. Had at least 5 people try to sell us a dinner at Chops Grill. That was a nuisance. We also ate pizza, every night, at Cafe Promenade. It was very good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We were mainly spectators for the pool deck activities. Too crowded to participate in the pools or hot tubs. Loved watching the people do the flow rider.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment was awesome! We attended the Frankie Vally Tribute, The Ice Show, the Rock Show and the Love and Marriage Show. All were excellent.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
I was most impressed with the staff in the Wind Jammer. Everyone was very attentive to the needs of the people. Our cups were never empty. Dirty dishes were retrieved right away. Seating was always available.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship, itself, was clean. Of course it took a few days to learn the layout and our way around the ship. But overall, it’s a beautiful ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our room was perfect for us. The bathroom was very tiny but we made it work.
Our only problem was our cabin cooler. It didn’t work, at all. The things we put in it stayed room temperature if not warmer. When we informed our cabin steward, I felt, she basically blew us off, stating “it was a cooler not a refrigerator”. An offer to provide ice to cool my wine would have been nice.
Ship tip
If you buy the beverage packet take advantage of all it has to offer. Enjoy your cruise!
We decided to carry our own bags off. So the speed of debarkation was excellent! I especially liked the process for people who had passports… just walk toward the camera, stop, then go! So cool!
Those energy saving electric coolers are only good for keeping already cold things cold for a few hours. I'm sure housekeeping is tired of hearing from (some) guests with incorrect understanding of how those stupid things work. All for pollution control but this is one that I'm not happy with.
Except for the lazy room attendant, sounds like a good cruise. Have had two coolers go bad and once I showed the room attendants that the thermostat was not clicking, they swapped them out.
Glad you had a nice trip. Sellers at every port are “pushy” it’s how they feed their families. I simply say no thank you, and keep walking. If you’re going into a shop, you’re gonna get pushed to buy. Just goes with the territory 🤷🏻♂️
