Review summary

Overall, we had a really good vacation. Royal Caribbean did a good job and we would certainly go again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy/quick boarding made for a good start!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was really good--plentiful certainly! And the service was great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There were plenty of things to do--it was a little cool for outdoor activities so we didn't spend much time at the pools which would have been nice. People tended to "reserve" spots so that limited areas to sit. And there seemed to be a lot of areas open to smokers.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment varied (the Jersey Boys show was great but other shows were just okay).

Children's Programs

We didn't bring children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The suite concierge and room attendant were both great! They provided superior service! (Thanks, Maria and Mari!).

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean and well maintained. We didn't have any concerns there.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a good size and had plenty of storage! The balcony was a good size, also (would have liked to spend more time there, but it was a little cool/windy).

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
It was great having easy access to a port (living in Texas) and the parking and access to the ship couldn't have been much easier to manage! And there are things to do in Galveston for those not from the area.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The port area itself was fine--very "enthusiastic" vendors. You couldn't walk two feet without someone trying to talk you into going into their shop. But it was mostly the excursion that was disappointing--we did the Beach Day and it was a joke. The service was bad, the "unlimited" drinks and snacks were definitively limited (they were very restrictive on the food and didn't have many drink options at all) and people were placed almost on top of each other with the chairs. Plus the "beach" area wasn't even pretty. I'm not sure where the glowing reviews I'd read came from. The people next to us were really mad (they'd read the same reviews). I would not recommend that excursion at all!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Great experience at Cozumel. We did the Dolphin VIP experience and had a lot of fun there. The trainer did an excellent job and we spent quite a bit of time in the water with the animals--the weather wasn't great (very high winds) but they still made the experience very enjoyable! And the park was beautiful!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This made the price of the suite worth every penny! It was extremely easy getting off the ship thanks to the concierge! We were out and to our car within about 15 minutes.

Disembarkation at Galveston is a breeze for everyone. The facial recognition and no customs is amazing.
