Review summary

Overall this was a great cruise with friendly people. I would definitely use Royal Caribbean again and would welcome another cruise on Adventure of the Seas.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was much easier since we were assigned a time to board. I appreciated the thorough checking of proof of vaccination and Covid test results.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the main dining room and the Windjammer buffet. I loved having a choice of Indian food every day at the lunch buffet. The food was great except for the desserts which were disappointing. The service was great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the activities. The kids (4 and 9) enjoyed the kids' club, pools and water slide. Wish there were more pools as they were packed on "at sea" days.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the comedian, Steve McGrew, and really enjoyed the performance by Oh What a Night Tribute. The ice skating show was also fun.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The kids really liked the kid's club activities, even though all they really did was watch movies and do crafts. They had a good time and we felt comfortable leaving them there.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters in the main dining room and the buffet were very nice and attentive. Our room steward was okay, and we had everything we needed. Everyone was friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I like the layout of the ship. You learn where everything is pretty quickly. Everything was clean, and we appreciated the attention to cleanliness and keeping everyone healthy.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was smaller than some other cruise lines but it was kept very clean. The balcony was a cove-type where the view was somewhat limited. I wasn't expecting this. It was also small, but had comfortable chairs. The mattress was extremely hard. The 9 year old said it felt like "sleeping on a brick covered with a sheet."

Ship tip

Don't think that you have free cell reception from Mexico or Texas just because you have reception. I racked up a $155 bill when I was close to shore, thinking I had free reception.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was so much easier than it used to be. Everyone was off the ship by 9:30. I didn't even have to show my passport. They use facial recognition which was very fast.

Always check with your cell carrier before you go. I’ve made that mistake myself once
