Review summary

I was excited to find out there was an app that was supposed to help you communicate while on ship. However, it wasn’t clear to us that there was also a charge for the app (although it was minimal). I like the app for some things but it needs work. The biggest frustration - it wasn’t very reliable for communicating with our travel buddies since it didn’t notify you if there was a message and the reliability was spotty. In this day and age, you should just provide wifi to everyone as part of the fare. Cruise was great. Would like to see cruises with itineraries that don’t include Cozumel every single trip. Been there and done that.

Embarkation

The check in process has been streamlined since I last cruised and the hated muster drill has been drastically changed for the better. Watch a video and check-in at your sTation after boarding is so much better.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall the staff and service was very good. Through the years on RCI the quality of the food offering has gone down. Never really had to wait for a table. The app was helpful for scheduling in the dining room. Rohan provided excellent service in the main dining room. Very personable and friendly. Crab cakes were really good and I think the lobster was the best I have had on any cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We hung out at both pools, the piano bar, boleros, blue moon, and the pub played mini golf, shuffleboard. Way too much ballroom dancing and special events for LGBTQ+. Very few opportunities for other dancing or dance parties.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The piano bar was good, the comedian was excellent, battle of the sexes was much smaller and not as good as what I’ve seen in the past. Didn’t really participate in much else. The pub was focused on basketball finals.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Rohan in main dining and Mary the Stateroom attendant were fantastic. Overall every RCI staff member we encountered was wonderful. No complaints at all.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Not a fan of the casino in the middle of the boat but otherwise it was fantastic. I prefer smaller ships vs the mega ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great. Balcony could have been bigger. I’m sure that depends on what you book. Storage was adequate. Never understand why there aren’t more hooks in the stateroom or outlets near the bed.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We did a private excursion, saw ruins, Cenote and ate at a Hacienda. Nothing much at the cruise terminal of interest. Surprised at the early departure and a little confusing on the ship time vs local time. Lots of passengers were caught off guard due to the recent time change.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did a beach day and went to Margaritaville on the way back. When exiting the ship it was a little difficult to find your way thru the maze of shops and out to the taxi area. Lots of signs but confusing.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I was stunned at how quickly and smoothly this went. We carried our own bags and everything was a breeze. Including the fact that we could even get an elevator. Customs was a breeze. We were at our car in 30 min.
