Review summary

This was one of our first times cruising on the newer ship, and it was the best cruise we've taken! I love the way they do the buffet service, and I hope they never go back.

Easy peasy!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining was pretty bland for food, but service was really great. I wish they'd get the Windjammer menu on service at the Main Dining, because everything at Windjammer was full of flavor.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The amenities were AMAZING! They've really stepped up their game since the last time we cruised with RC. Kids loved all the water slides and boogie boarding, as well as the kids clubs, mini golf and ice skating.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We only saw one show and it was enough to put us off entertainment for the whole cruise. The "comedian" was seriously terrible. It was like someone's grandpa went and got Facebook memes from 3 years ago and made a set out of them. Nothing was original, and while I LOVE edgy comedy, he was just awkwardly offensive in his pursuit to be edgy. He acted like he was being "so brave" by not being PC, but he was just playing to a racist, homophobic audience, which really isn't edgy. It's pretty safe. So for people in the audience who weren't racist or homophobic it was just really awful and really hard to watch. Nothing was even funny. He made jokes about homeschooling during the pandemic and not offending "nonbinary" numbers. But it was just awful. I guess he figured that the 80+ crowd would love to see their memes acted out in real life. Or that maybe the older folks who didn't know how to work The Facebook would think he was a genius. But I think they need to put that horse out to pasture. You're not going to attract younger generations of cruisers by billing recycled Facebook memes from 2016 as comedy. And considering how many LGBTQIA+ people cruise...I think it's a big mistake to have a dinosaur up there with bad takes. The only thing that redeems the entertainment from being zero stars was the karaoke nights. Those were GREAT! I would recommend karaoke a million times over. But they really need to know how terrible the comedian was. He needs let go immediately before someone gets in his show with a camera and drags this out into the open.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Kids LOVED kids club, and we actually liked the reservation system. My only suggestion would be some kind of program for preteens. My 12-year-old wasn't quite comfortable to go to teen club with all the older teens. But she was too old for Adventure Ocean. Maybe a separate program for 11-13 would be cool? But teen club did a good job of trying to engage her! So I wouldn't dream of taking a star away.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was above and beyond amazing. The only thing I'd like for them to chill on is the upsells on specialty dining. We felt almost assaulted in the Windjammer by a constant barrage of people trying to upsell us to specialty dining. It feels like they pressure staff to sell, and it kind of takes away from the service experience because you're always afraid to ask staff for anything because they might take it as a sign to sell you on the specialty dining.

Cabin / Stateroom

We got an interior overlooking the promenade and it was AMAZING!

Ship tip

If you're traveling with kids, do yourself a favor and book two cabins. We usually bunk with the kids, but we booked two rooms, and now we can't ever go back. What a relaxing experience!
