Review summary

We wanted to try a cruise out of Galveston and to try an older ship. Adventure of the Seas was nice but you can tell it needs that canceled amplification that Navigator and Mariner received. It is still very well maintain and a good ship for a relaxing getaway. We had fun and would do it again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy getting on the ship. Make sure you have your covid test and vaccine card ready

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the main dining hall were much better than windjammer. Soda machines in the promenade were working off and on during the cruise

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not a lot going on due to the lack of passengers on the ship. Still relaxing though

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Steve McGrew was okay, the Whitney Houston tribute headliner was really good. Both shows in the theater were good, the ice show was excellent, the live band in the imperial lounge was kinda meh.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Some of the best service we’ve received on any vacation. Every person we interacted with was awesome

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
We did not do any excursions and feel costa Maya is probably a lot better if you do. The port area is nice but doesn’t take long to explore. Next time we’re gonna go to the ruins or something like that.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cozumel has seen better days, hopefully with cruises restarting and more people visiting the empty shops will be full again. The merchants in the shops are very aggressive and will try to direct you into their shops. Have to be firm with the “no thank you.” It’s understandable with the lack of business they had for 18 months when no cruise ships were sailing but just something to be aware of. I would have probably explored more but the aggressiveness of the merchants and how windy it was during our visit we did not spend much time on land. Cab from the cruise port to the downtown area is roughly $8 usd

Galveston, Texas

We stayed at the tremont house hotel, ate in the strand district, and walked to the pier on the other side of the island.
