This was our first time on Royal. Everyone I’ve met has always raved about the food. However, something must have happened because this was the worst food I’ve ever had. Not just on a cruise. The food in Windjammer was like something out of a TV dinner. Most nights I spat it out in a napkin - and I am the least picky eater you could meet. We ate at Chops and the filet was a perfect cut, cooked perfectly medium rare, but was the BLANDEST steak of my life. I don’t think it saw a drop or salt, pepper, or any other seasoning. We had mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and they tasted like the bland kind from a packet. The main dining hall was equally bad - the shrimp Risotto was bland, watery rice. The mozzarella sticks were WORSE than those from a bowling alley! Unmelted and solid cheese.

Ship tip

Maybe it was due to Covid, but the food was 100% AWFUL in Chops, Windjammer, and main dining. Huge let down.

If you couldn’t find something great to do in Cozumel, you certainly didn’t do any research. There are more things to do in Cozumel than any other Caribbean island.

I get it, not everyone likes the sane food, but I find it hard to believe you couldn't find a single thing you liked to eat on the ship

It’s interesting that other reviews from the same cruise dates rated the food good, outstanding, excellent. If someone cannot find something to eat on a cruise ship, they have some serious food restrictions or our way to picky.

Thanks for the review. We’ve always had a great experience on Royal Caribbean and found a good quality and variety of food in both dining room and buffet. It sounds like cruising is probably not for you. It’s not for everyone.
