Review summary

I was impressed with Royal Caribbean, on one night upon returning to our room we found a 50$ onboard credit voucher which was nice but even better than that was, we decided not to go on a shore excursion that we pre-booked with Royal and to my surprise, we got a credit on our account. Way to go Royal!!

Embarkation

We got to the port at 11:00 and it took 45 minutes to drop off our bags but once I parked the car it took only 10 minutes to board the ship

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Being our first cruise we had an idea of what to expect reading other reviews, but it was better than expected. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast at the Windjammer I thought they could do a better job, it was repetitive and the french toast and the waffles were very dry. We took the BOGO 2 night specialty dining package and for the price I was impressed. We went to Giovanni's table and Chops grill for 40$ now that was a great deal. The main dining room was very good and I enjoyed the choices we had on the menu. The stand out at the main dining room was the lamb it was excellent.

Onboard Activities

Not having any of our own kids the tranquillity of the solarium was nice. I also tried the FlowRider and had a blast. I went to the gym a couple of times it was good, the pools were nice but a little smaller than expected. With 3 sea days, I did not have time to do the rock climbing wall.

Entertainment

I was expecting what you get on a resort vacation like the Dominican Republic and boy was I wrong. The Ice show, the 70's and 80's party were very good but the Quest was my favorite. I thought the piano player at the schooner bar was good but after the 3rd night, I was hoping for something new. The comedy show at the lyric theatre was entertaining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service was excellent, we never experienced the level of service and attention to detail that we got on board. Much better than any Hotel that we ever stayed. Our room steward was amazing, he made us feel as if he was our private butler, he was friendly, accommodating and very professional.

Ship tip

The elevators are a little slow, so try getting a room mid ship. 7th floor worked out great for us.

Ports of call

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

We rented a private beach bungalow and we just loved it. A must do next time.
