Review summary

This is the first time we have cruised with Royal Caribbean and were very pleased. Although the size of the ship was massive, the individual care we received was like being on a small, very exclusive ship. With over 3,000 passengers, you still were made to feel as if you were the only one of a few.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had second seating for our meals, which is generally much later than we normally eat. We never felt rushed to finish our meals and with all the evening activities, we never went to bed right after eating. Our waiter, assistant waiter and head waiter were extraordinary. Their service was phenominal - we even were able to get extra servings of the delicious escargot the day after it was scheduled to be served. The triple level to the dining room, and the fixtures (chandeliers, draperies, linens) were elegant.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We even had an ice show that could have qualified for any of the traveling professional ice shows. Very well done. The entertainment by the cruiseline staff was excellent and there was plenty of variety for anyones taste in entertainment.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We did not have any family enrolled in the children's program, but when they were observed doing their activities, they looked like they were having the time of their lives. They even came into the dining rooms and put on a skit for our entertainment - wonderful job by all.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the ship's staff, from the Captain to the cleaning crew, were extremely polite, pleasant and helpful. They obviously enjoy their jobs because you never saw one without a smile that was genuine.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Adventure of the Seas is the second largest ship in Royal Caribbeans fleet, but it never felt like you were "lost in a crowd". The cabin areas were very quiet and the common areas were well modulated. The staff kept the ship very clean. Only at the end of the cruise, while waiting to disembark, were there any indication that there were more than a few passengers on board - the rest rooms became messy and a few of the toilets became clogged in the women's room.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I was a little disappointed in our stateroom. We had a balcony room which was wonderful and the balcony was very spacious. The beds, however, were reminicient of foldaway beds. The mattresses were not top quality and the first night I almost rolled out of bed because there was no support to the sides of the mattress. Of course, with all the activities during the day, I still fell right to sleep and didn't wake up until morning. The cabin was a little smaller than on previous cruiselines and the shower was not very large - my husband had difficulty taking his shower without hitting the walls and had to open the shower door to pick up a dropped washcloth.

Walking through the downtown area and looking at all the old architecture is fascinating. You can imagine living there in the 1600's.
