A Wonderful First Time Experience! by DavidA15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Absolutely wonderful! This was our first cruise and we didn't know what to expect. The staff and service was absolutely over the top in quality and helpful and friendly. I loved the fact that staff was so multi cultural and were always available to answer any questions or help in any fashion or form. The food was incredible! I cannot tell what was more fun, the buffet or the fine dining! The way the buffet is designed keeps long lines from forming and still keeps dozens of options available from sandwiches to wraps, soups, and desserts. But the Fine Dining in the Manhattan Restaurant was the best! I loved being treated with first class service and the last night had the most wonderful presentation of meeting the chefs, managers and waiters with the Baked Alaska. The spinning napkins was so much fun and the food is superior. The Comedian was soo funny and had really nice all around sense of humor. He was not very raunchy or dirty. Fortunes Casino was fun even though we left empty handed. :) The Rendez-vous Square was delightful and The Navigator Club was exciting. Overall the cruise was only 3 days but the most relaxing and fulfilling days ever! We can't wait till we take our next cruise and you can bet it will be longer than 3 days!

Mercury Cruise last week by CliffR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Over all we enjoyed the cruise and it was a pleasant way to kill a few days and relax. We started off in a state room on level 4 and we played Bingo and won an upgrade to a Sky Suit for the last 2 nights which was nice. Only slightly more room but with more amenities than the state rooms. Deck 12 was quiet and nice. The TV Selection was poor and when we attempted to rent a Movie the quality and reception was so bad we asked for a refund and did receive one because we could not view the Movie at all.

We had a delicious cruise by PhyllisR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We sailed on the Mercury for 3 nights to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect way to celebrate. We loved our stateroom and verandah. Even though the space is small it was efficiently laid out with plenty of storage space. It was clean and the cabin steward was invisible but always there. How do they do that? She attended perfectly to the room whenever we were not there. The staff was cheerful and and always helpful. The food was very nice with plenty of variety. We enjoyed dancing, going to shows, a movie, our shore time.....and still there seemed to be plenty of time to just laze about our stateroom napping and reading. It was a perfect 3 day retreat! We are considering doing it again next year, and perhaps taking our kids and grandkids along with us.

Not so great cruise by MarcellaC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I felt for the low cost we paid, we got exactly what we deserved. I believe the Mercury is ready for a remodel. The staff does an excellent job at keeping it clean, but the condition of the furniture and surrondings is very well used and run down. The water temperature in our shower was not consistant and therefor we were freezing one moment and scalded the next. Compared to other cruise lines I felt the TV interaction programming was not as user friendly as others. I was ready for pampering and beauty when I boarded the Mercury, only to board and find quietness and dual colors.

Nice for the price. by AngelaL9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I would like to start by saying the service was wonderful and all employees were very friendly. I enjoyed the spa several times however it always ended up costing way more than I expected and I did not like being approached after every visit feeling like I had to by product. The room service took quite a while, and the food was horrible. How do you screw up a club sandwich? The over-all layout and easement of locating different areas on the ship was confusing. The ambiance of the ship was extremly disappointing!!! The shower at any given time of the day went from extreme hot-cold-hot, if your traveling with children this could be potentially dangerous! The casino, and shops were closed a majority of the time which was very inconvenient. For the price, it was what it was, but I wouldn't do it again.

Celebrity cruise experience wonderful! by KristinaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We have sailed twice on Celebrity line and found this the best of the two. This was a short 4 day cruise through the NW coastal area. This trip was on the Mercury, previously we had been on the Century. The Mercury is scheduled to be refurbed in 2009 and boy could it use it. Missing tiles in the pool area, worn and used carpet, tired color scheme all indications of lots of use. Although the ship is tired looking, the service was top notch! Previously on Century, the service was ho hum. This time the line showed us why we came to Celebrity to begin with. The waitstaff remembered what we liked to drink and our particular likes and dislikes. The rrom staff was impeccable and nothing was ever amiss. The posrts of call were Victoria and Nananimo. Vistoria was as she always is, a lovely tourist city with lots of attractions to interest anyone, theaters, museums, shops, food. Nanaimo however, is a very small working town and not quite up to a cruisers interest just yet. Very small, not lots to see or do and stretched out, the old quarter is many many blocks away, pretty far for the older crowd of Celebrity. In the long run, Celebrity is a terrific cruise line and we booked 2 more cruise for next year while on board this trip! We are cruise crazy!

Our Trip on the Mercury by ShirleyR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship was very clean, the room attendants and food servers very anxious to please. The nightly entertainment was good but it would have been nice to have more movies available. We had a selection of two movies. One day there was an R rated movie and the day at sea there was a children's movie. These did not meet our needs. In Victoria, we took the tour that had tea at Bouchart Gardens. Tea was served at 11 a.m. which gave us one hour to tour the gardens. This isn't enough time to see all of the gardens let alone go into the gift shop. Had we known, we could have taken the Bouchart Gardens tour and then gone to the Empress Hotel for tea in the afternoon. Or better yet, had a free tea on the ship.

this was a great short cruise by SallyB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

great short cruise, not all that relaxing, due to the length, but definitely a good get-away. Mercury is filling in time between the summer Alaska cruises, and repositioning to Hawaii, and points south for the winter. seems like a big ship to be making this short trip, but it was good. staff is very friendly, food is better than ok, i love to go north, so the ports were fine for me. stateroom was large, clean, definitely above average, restaurants menus had enough variety to suit any tastes. this was our first Celebrity cruise, and would definitely do it again.

First cruise by ClairL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was my first cruise, although my wife has been on three before. I will say it won't be the last. Even though it was a short one (4 nights) I did find iit relaxing. We did have a nice sunny day in Victoria, BC and saw the Butchart Gardens (beautiful). The food was very good, the service excellent, and we felt pampered. I was pleased with the inside cabin and always slept well. I had nothing to compare it with because of my first time, but I felt the ship Mercury was a comfortable one (my wife agrees), and the crew very courteous and helpful. I will go again in the future.

Pac Northwest Cruise by PhilL3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We were in a concierge lass cabin that was clean and in decent size. The crew members were always pleasant. Everything met our expectation except, the dining room. The tables in the dining room were clamped too close to each other and far too small. the service of the waiter and assistant waiter were the most unpleasant experience we have ever received. Seemed like they were not able to co-ordinate with eachother. The greeting was practically nonexsistant and services were SLOW! We only had two meals in the dining room and had the rest of our dinners in the alternative restaurants.

The cruise was fine by SirR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The Mercury is commited to turning you into a alcaholic even if you don't drink!! That is easily stemmed when you are charged $6.85 for a simple Bourbon Coke. A Barista is badly needed on the Mercury. You cannot get a Latte there!! All menu's are steered to selling you Booze. Tours are overpriced unless you prefer to be herded like cattle. If you can stay away from being nickled & dimed to death onboard, you can have a great time. Stay out of the Casino; It's a pure Money making machine with rare payouts!!

Nothing to Write Home About by Ln11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was my first cruise ever. When booking the cruise, we requested to dine with friends; however these arrangements were not made. The following evening, a table top was supposed to be added to provide accommodations for eight, but this did not happen as well. We ended up splitting up into two tables. Both the appearance of the Mercury, and the food were okay. The overall experience was just okay.

I'm a picky person when it comes to food and service. I cannot say enough. I want everyone in my family to experience this. I can't wait to go back to a cruise. This time, for longer period!
