What a wonderful ship !!! Yes its old and small ...but filled with great staff and food...!!! Our server Frosina in the dining room and Ron lee were two of the sweetest and hardworking crew....we wanted to take them home with us...For an old ship it was well maintained and a bit elegant....It was our 30th cruise and our room even had 2 bathrooms !!!! Yes I felt like a princess !!!! Especially with my new pearl necklace we bought on the ship ...we even booked another cruise while on the ship !!!!!

Appreciate crew staff - they are friendly as family members by Amypchoi

Though ship is small and actually a bit disappointed at the beginning.  However, after the 10-day cruise, we feel we are just at home and our meals are well served.  Our table attendant/asst.attendent in the dinning room are well trained and always happy to serve.  The head-waiter is funny and make jokes, and he is entertaining.  Room is neat and tidy.

Best Cruise Ever in Paradise by NoraS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Paul Gauguin / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

Everyone was wonderful. The cruise director spoke English without a thick British accent, Les Gauguines were very friendly and helpful. The service provided by everyone (room stewards, waiters, maitre'd, tender operators, staff) was excellent. Enjoyed the gourmet dining, everything was very close and liked having the snorkel equipment to use the entire cruise.

A very relaxing cruise to Paradise by AngelaA4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ocean Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

The ship is much smaller than the ones we are used to sailing on to the Caribbean. But the staff is very friendly and there's more than enough staff to accomodate all the passengers. The ship could use a little updating on the accomodations.

Nice Cruise by RichardB7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ocean Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

Had a good time. Ship was small but that meant fewer passengers. 5days at sea is a lot on a small ship. Bora Bora was not good.

beautiful ship...innappropriate shows by Traveler41

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

We loved the new boat and surfing, ice, rock wall etc. The con (but I'm sure this is the same on all ships) is the sex and skin in their shows. Their main feature show was considered a family show and was filled with humping and pelvic thrusts etc. We waited in line an hour...were in the 5th row--middle and stood up and walked out after the first 10 minutes.

Our Great Tihitian Cruise by DanP2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

At first we were hesitant about a smaller ship. It turnrd out to be great. We would have liked a bit larger Casino area but we donated our money anyway. The Islands which were visited were great. The locals were friendly and more than willing to educate us on the customs and history on each Island. The cruise staff were all exceptional. Thanks for a great time.

Our best cruise ever. by GaryE4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

The ship was extremely well organized - never any lines. The food was consistently excellent and served cheerfully. The cabin was always clean. The shore transportation was frequent and quick, with iced drinks waiting on shore. Best of all was being allowed on board early andallowed to stay on board until our late flight.

A most rewarding experience! by CatherineS3

Thoroughly enjoyed our balcony stateroom. We felt like royalty sitting there quietly and enjoying the sailing without having had to pay a king's ransom. The crew was fantastic - so kind, courteous and willing to assist at every turn.

A Month In French Polynesia by GregoryR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

We were on the old R4, now known as the Tahitian Princess. We had sailed on the R8 in the Baltic and this ship was the same. The size of the ship made meeting and remembering people very easy. But the food was much better and in the Princess tradition. The Captain was very personable and spent a lot of time with the passengers. These two voyages were his first as a Captain and if they are any indication of his potential he will go far.

Tahitian Princess Cruise by FranakH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

Overall, Princess does a good job on this cruise. The food is good - the service is excellent.. The excursions are limited because French Polynesia has limited facilities and transportation for tourists. Using "La Truck" to see the islands is not recommended for pampered tourists. I recommend tourists be forewarned before they use "La Truck".

Outstanding ship; outstanding islands by HarryR4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Paul Gauguin (RETIRED) / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

The ship felt the most spacious of any we have travelled on. There were quite a number of singles travelling alone, so the ship was not quite full to capacity. Some much larger ships have more dramatic public spaces but have always felt more crowded. On one smaller, expedition ship, the interior space was cramped.

The ship was a small. Therefore, there was a lot of rolling. We're partial to larger ships.

Everything we asked for and More by Bctraveller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

This is a trip of a life time and should be done at least once. The movies and brochures do not do justice to the magnificent colors of the South Pacific. The island trips were interesting and informative. I would go to Bora Bora and the Cook Islands again in a heart beat. Of all the French Polynesia islands I truely feel that Bora Bora was the most receptive to the tourists. They offered far more to see and do than the the other islands. The Cook Island people were just a joy to be around and historically very informative. I just loved them. The Intercontinental Beach Resort was absolutely beautiful (though it was a bit pricey) but we plan on staying there again on our way to Australia in 2008. Shopping was a bit of a let down in the local markets. Not at all like Mexico or Caribbean, not much choice except for jewelery and pareux's. No nice dresses or caftans which was a disappointment. T-shirts for grand-children were also not a general commodity, and those that were available were over priced. The ship (Tahitian Princess) was so much fun, the staff was always willing to help and make sure you were enjoying yourself. The meals as per usual on Princess were top quality and presented very well. The only complaint here is the hours of the Buffet and their service in the evenings. If you didn't want to go to the traditional dining the only other options were the specialty resturants. Our dinning room staff was fun, full of laughter and by the second night knew everyone's name. After being on board for 20 days B2B, we were in tears to leave some of the staff behind (and they had tears also). We met wonderful friends on board and some of them will remain friends for a long time.

What a Honeymoon!!!! by Lcd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

The ship was well staffed. The room was clean and well kept by the steward - at least twice per day. Turn down service was a nice touch. The food service was great. We enjoyed our dinner couple conversation. Great variety on the menu. The mixed drinks were mediocre. The open sitting buffet had flies intermittently due to the proximity to outdoor seating. The outdoor seating was plastic and a little worse for wear. Less than 700 passengers, however, the motion of the boat was ever present even in smooth waters.

Memories for a Lifetime! by EmilyL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

The Tahitian Princess is a pretty ship though smaller than others we had been on, so we were apprehensive. But the weather was perfect almost every day. It really was lovely. We would open our balcony door a bit every night and were gently rocked to sleep with light wave sounds. What could be more relaxing! We enjoyed all the different parts of the ship. I never did try the pool. But it looked very pleasant.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Tahitian Princess / Destination: South Pacific - Tahiti

overall the ship is well kept up and always appeared to be brand new. nothing worn or tattered. princess made it very clear on staying clean and does not need anyone coming down with any diseases, always many bottles of hand wash disinfectant prior to meals. princess made a point to celebrate honeymoons/birthdays/anniversarys,etc.
