A Great Way to See Hawaii by njideas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I chose the NCL Pride of America cruise because I wanted to visit the major Hawaiian Islands and did not want to spend 10 days at sea.  Overall, it was a very good experience.  The embarkation and disembarkation was very easy.  The cruise ship was recently refurbished it is clean but it is not elegant.  The passengers spend most of the days touring the ports so daytime onboard activities are sufficient but not extraordinary.  I really enjoyed the evening entertainment.  Especially the production shows.  The comedian, Michael Somerville was hilarious.  Beware, the Hollywood Theater is kept freezing cold for some reason or another.  People wore coats, jackets and some brought the blankets from the beds.  Unbelievable!!!

would recommand this cruise to friends and family.  ship needed some repairs, and the pools and hot tubs need repair.  The adult only pool was to hard to get to.

Hawaiian Cruise by majgulick

Grand Princess is worn and needs updating.  Better/faster internet at a more reasonable cost should be provided, with technology today, it is expected.

cruise to Hawaii by katarinamartin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

I would recommend it to others.  the dining room was run very efficiently. some of the entertainment was good. a very funny comedian originally from Ireland. Dan, the cruise director, was very good at his job.  the team of father/daughter who did the ukulele and hula classes and also entertained in the piazza was very good. the food was generally of good quality and tasty. the weather at sea was cooler than I had expected, but, of course, there is nothing you can do about that.  the stop in Ensenada could have been a little longer.

Nothing upscale about this cruise by momwinslow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Hawaii

Considering I had sailed on Norwegian Dawn a couple of years back I think it has gone downhill. I found the food in the restaurants to be quite disappointing, The buffet wasabi improvement. Iordered veal Oscar in the dining room, by the way both included restauransn have the same menu, was more like dog meat Oscar, mushy and no likeness to veal. As the week progressed and I tried of the entrees they only got worse. The safest thing to eat was the steak on the menu. I refuse to pay $30 up charge for a specialty restaurant with an added 18% service charge when I'm already being charged a service charge for the freestyle restaurants. We did try the Chinese restaurant which was included in the package and that was no better. And average cocktail was $15 with 18% service charge. The entertainment wash boring and the comedians were far from funny. Considering I have traveled on Princess and Celebrity in the past I think I will stick with Celebrity since it's only a couple of hundred dollars. In the long run you get more for your money and it is like night and day. Dinner dress was supposed to be business dress but they allowed people in wearing anything from shorts, t shirts, etc. Even didn't comment when one young woman say at the table next to us crossed legged!  Far from classy, we dressed as we would when dining at a nice restaurant at home.

FABULOUS CRUISE by mdweymouth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Hawaii

Loved this cruise ... worth every penny.  The staff was exceptional.  My only complaints:

1.  my stateroom had some kind of "leak", and the room had an unpleasant odor for the last week of the cruise.

2.  Within the first week the ship ran out of Pinot Grigio.

14 day Repositioning Cruise on NCL Dawn by rstollon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Hawaii

We sailed on the Dawn several years ago and were happy to see that the ship has recently been updated. Most of the public areas have been updated but the gift shops are still too small. Our balcony room was very clean, but there is a lot of empty wall space that could be used for hanging items if hooks were available. The food in the main dining rooms has also improved!

This cruise was 14 days, 7 sea days and 7 ports.  The crew and staff are very courteous and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate the passengers.

Star Princess Hawaiian Cruise October 2016 by bluemarlin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

It was great to be able to see some of the highlighted areas that we missed during other visits.

Two disappointments, we wished the ports of call would have been longer as in Oahu. Also Ensenada, MX was not to our liking, friends were being harassed by the election outcome. This could have been a very dangerous situation.

A total of 9 days at sea may not be enjoyable by most people.

Beautiful Hawaii by pskardi1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

This is a cruise for those who like LOTS of sea days!  It also avoids the long flight from Hawaii to the east coast.  Sea days had lots of activities, but sometimes many were scheduled at the same time.  My personal favorite was the Pop Choir.  Captain Michele was the most personable we've ever had.  He constantly mingled among the passengers and his daily reports were informative and entertaining.  The Hawaiian islands provided many beautiful sights unseen elsewhere.  Halloween was very festive!  The Piazza was beautifully decorated, and most of the crew dressed up.

Missed 5 star by only one factor of cruise by pattiphx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

Reason this review is not 5 star is because of the CONSTANT LOUD use of the on deck movie screen.  Almost never off-so almost never any quiet on Lido and deck above.  Also, most of movies and "concerts" were geared to kids and teens. don't need to see Star Wars again!  Otherwise, this was a wonderful cruise.  Staff friendly and accommodating.  Leialoha and Tiki Dave are wonderful Hawaiian ambassadors. Service and food good in all venues.  Captain was always around with smiles for all.  Andrew-cruise director-one of best we have had on 20+ cruises.  We love the sea days on a long cruise.  Aloha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

We had 15 beaytiful days sailing to Hawaii and back to Los Angeles! It was wonderful!!! Our cabin was quite, clean, good ventalation, big closet, great shower, fridge, good safe, independent ac/heat control, near elevators and near everything. Excellent Captain, crew, staff, food, waiters and service!

It was truly the trip of a lifetime! It was Awsome! We rented cars at Hilo, Oahu, and Kaui. We punched "Shaka Guide" Mobile Phone Offline GPS Guided Tours Apps from the Google Mobile Phone Play Store for $4.99 each. We toured Hilo, Oahu, and Kaui. Stopping to sight see, shop and we skorkeled Sharks Cove, Anini Beach and bought a snorkeling tour of Molokini Crater and Turtle Reef on Maui. The Best Trip and Vacation Ever!!!

Hawaiian Islands Cruise by rmeter95

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Had the best vacation ever 3rd week of October 2016.  Beautiful weather, great excursions, great food, friendly staff.  Norwegian really makes you feel like family after the cruise.  GO TO THE SHOWS at night.  The Vegas show was awesome.

My favorite excursion was the first day catamaran ride to Molokini crater and turtle snorkel.  Saw an eel, lots of different fish, dolphins, whales and massive turtle. Also had the best time around Kauai.  Highly recommend the 2 hour helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.  Kauai is so beautiful and magical the best way to see it is by air.  There are so many waterfalls.  I recommend this cruise to all.

Fabulous Introduction to the Hawaiian Islands by Cruiser66302332

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We really enjoyed being able to visit many of the Hawaiian Islands on our first visit to Hawaii.  It was nice to unpack your suitcase for the week, travel at night and be in a different location the next morning! The ship was cold, so a wrap or sweater is suggested for shows and dinner.  The food was good - breakfast at the Aloha Cafe was our favorite meal! The dining rooms are nice. If you have never been to Hawaii, the cruise was a great way to explore and find the place you want to come back to! We booked shore excursions through the ship and through outside excursions and had a fantastic time!

Good, not great by delmonte1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

When I cruise, I like as much complimentary services as possible, however NCL has too many restaurants with a fee as well as a charge for room service unlike other cruises I've been on before. Showers were small as well.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had not been to Hawaii before, and felt this was the best way to see most of the islands.  We enjoyed our trip very much! NCL went out of their way to make sure we saw all of the most interesting sites including Mt Kilauea at night!!!

Great People. Mediocre Food. by davekrism

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Miracle / Destination: Hawaii

15 Night cruise to Hawaii is not for everyone.  Some people were seasick while crossing to the islands.  Carnival hires great people who work hard to make your cruise special.  Buffet food could be better.  Nick and Noras Steakhouse was great.  Very funny comedians and great musical shows.

Review for Hawaii Cruise on the Miracle by nancy96544788

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Wonderful trip.  It was rough on the high seas for my 15 day Hawaii October cruise. It did not stop me from doing anything.  Very windy...  I would do it again in a heart beat.
