St. Petersburg although very crowded was fantastic. Our tour guide was great.

Food on the boat was generally very good although at times hard to find a table in the buffet restaurant. Evening buffet meals were quite satisfactory with lots of choices.

very nice cruise by alexandre55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Very nice cruise:

Interesting destinations, nice ship, friendly crew.

The excursions variety and their quality are not so wonderful.  Foe instance in Corsica we were taken for a 40 min bus ride just for a 30 min toilet brake (!). then we came back to  Ajaccio a walking tour. We spent extra money and our time for nothing.

Great Costa Cruise by umhanna3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I loved the evening dining and the activities. The cruises would have been better if we could have spent more time in the port cities. The hospitality desk did their best to help us know how to get around at the destinations, but they had never been there themselves and knew only what they could pull off the internet. It would be great if the staff had first hand knowledge of the destinations. None of the staff did except the cruise director.

Fantastic Voyage! by ILOVESAILING

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Fantastic. Wonderful. My only comment ... there should be more supervision at the hot tubs. People were in the hot tubs with glass bottles of beer, and the pool attendant (Howard) and one of the officers (Stanley) completely ignored the infraction. This happened on more than one occasion.

White nights done right by kiddendad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crystal Symphony / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We visited six ports of call in 10 days. The organized tours helped us make the best use of time in port. Lots of activities on ship made for fun and variety. The ship itself is like a floating four star hotel. Almost any need was anticipated in advance. The regular wines included in the tour were great selections, much better than typical everyday fare. Several different eating venues with convenient times, good variety, and great service helped to round out a vacation of a lifetime. We can't waiting to cruise again.

Pretty good by zhengjian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This is our first trip to the area. Most of the places we visited are totally worth the time, but some of the port of call are not that interesting. I also wish Princess didn't alter the itinerary. I was far more excited about visiting Malta and Ephesus than the alternatives. I would have considered going with a different cruise.

12 amazing nights by pz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Zuiderdam / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We really like this line and the service, attention to detail and opportunities available. We often would rather just explore the port cities than do 'tours' as we find it intriguing to talk to the town folk in port ciities and find out all kinds of unique things about the region.

Baltic cruise by sgene4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Overall - very good, with major reservations about the ship itself (very small public areas, limited seating available). Also, number of shows for a general public in a theater somewhat limited.

Very good but not the best. by HPotter8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We were on the NCL Getaway, a 3-year new large ship in excellent condition. The choice of ports was excellent but I wish we could have substituted Helsinki, Finland for one of the at sea days. The food and service were generally very good but not particularly memorable except for having a better than usual selection of Asian and vegetarian options at the buffet. The standard dining options without extra fees were too similar and not varied enough.

Shore excursions were mostly overpriced, especially to Berlin and St. Petersberg, and I felt that they were too short and rushed to be enjoyed well. I would recommend looking at third party excursions in these two cities for better and cheaper excursions, e.g. SPB tours! SPB also takes care of Russian visa issues for you too. If you are young and willing to walk some, Talinn can be done by yourself with a guidebook easily. If the ship docks at Stadgarden pier (confirm with excursion desk) in Stockholm, you can also easily do a self-guided walking tour with the help of the HopOn/Off boats.

Onboard entertainment options were very good but not the best. Golf course, water slides and play areas were not nearly as well-designed as on the Carnival Vista.

Rooms were clean with excellent service attendants, and boarding and leaving the ship were much more efficient and easier than on most other cruises.

As for the Copenhagen port experience, using taxis are a must and are more ample than NCL would like you to believe. Fare to or from airport is about USD$70-80. If you have a bigger party, try the very excellent Adina Apartment Hotel fairly nearby for reasonable rates when staying before or after your cruise.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable cruise experience at a very reasonable price-thanks to the help of our always amazing and fantastic  agent, Leanne O.

Great Cruise by newportmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I really loved this cruise and this ship. I would have preferred to not have the "at sea" day, as this just seemed to be an excuse to get you to spend money, as nothing in this area is really very far away from anything else - could have easily added another stop instead..... We also had to miss the Helsinki port and go to Poland instead - this was awesome, but I probably would have preferred the Helsinki itinerary (not sure why our cruise did this). The food was good on this ship, but the buffet gets really tiresome quickly and it is frequently very, very crowded. The dining rooms need to have some variety - same thing over and over and over in each dining room. Definitely spring for the upgraded dining package so you have some variety. The focus of this cruise is your port stops - these are really awesome and we had a great time visiting so many places!

We love history by churchservices

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

There was so much to see and due to traffic congestion everywhere we went in the cities it was hard to see more than one or two things in an entire day.  We had purchased Hop On/Off bus passes and there were a lot of buses in the morning, but remarkably few after noon so it was hard getting around.  The ship was about what you would expect.  Captain was concerned enough with a coming storm to delete our stop at Kirkwall, which was a disappointment, but understandable.  The entertainment on the ship was nothing to write home about.  Since there were so many stops on this cruise there was very little going on during the day, even sea days.  For those who like to experience history in a brief sort of way, this is a good cruise.

Disney knows how to do it right. Kids had a blast -parents had a blast.  Time to be together and times when we could all be on our own.  Perfect family vacation

Great cruise by kbombard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I would recommend this cruise to someone.  The food, staff, shows were all great.  There was a good age mix from teens for our kids to adults for us.  We had one bad excursion in Malta but already provided feedback on the ship for that (Golden Beach was not good at all).

Great Vacation on a very good ship by NeilMSCTRIP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

First I have to state that the cruise met just about every expectation I had based on prior experience and reviews. The ship was not huge. I thought that would pose an issue with me but in retrospect was a distinct advantage. The CROWD SCEENS were minimal at the restaurants, by the pool and most importantly at the gangways. Given that these cruises visit so many ports, it was wonderful that we never waited more then a few minutes to get off the ship. The process was professional and very organized. The itinerary was perfect and the 2 days in Venice were the best. The food on board was great too. Probably too good. We didn't book a specialty restaurant and as it turned out we didn't need to. Windows and The Gardens were the go to places along with Shogun for a change in pace. The main Buffet on the 12th deck was pretty good too. I will advise that this is not a great ship for Kids and should never be confused with a Carnival ship. Especially in Europe. No rock walls, flo riders or skating rinks. For us, we don't use them so they were not missed. The shows were pretty good, especially on the last couple nights. The pool side entertainment was NOT great. The DJ knew and played the same 5 songs every day. He could have and should have played a mix tape and gone for a swim. They had a band one day that was plain BAD and a guitar player that also played the same 4 songs each day he played. Not a good guitar player at all.  Bottom line, I would cruise with NCL and on Spirit again. If I could have given a 4.5 stars I would.

Overall by jennywei

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Jewel of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I've been on serval cruises with RCC, however, Jewel of the seas doesn't seems like welcome peoples and uncheerful team crews.  Plus additional charges on towels without letting customers know to return.  Not much entertainment and smaller ship to Mediterranean.  Food was ok & service was slow on the first couple days.  We had to switch to other table to have better service.  Otherwise, it's good.

Great Itinerary, smooth sailing, by landboater

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

It is always nice to have a suite (this was a jr suite). Spacious suite & veranda. Bed was comfortable. Not enough electrical outlets however for a room that holds 3-4 people. Only had 1 outlet and we had 2 tablets, a phone, 2 camera with batteries, a curling iron, & a hair straightener, all needing that one outlet! Typical big ship-too big when you need to disembark or get back on, elevators insufficient, ridiculous 2 hour taxi stand wait. Food was pretty good. Had 2 formal nights but never had the semi formal evening. Could not hear the announcements in our room which was annoying. Did not care for the onboard activities-not suitable for seniors or people with mild physical challenges (rock wall, ice skating, wave riding). Mini golf was nice & shuffleboard. However, we love table tennis and could not use any of the 4 tables because they were all within the children's area & were being used by children who did not even tall enough to really be playing ping pong on a normal sized table. Made no sense. The pools were adequate. Our veranda was disappointing because it had an obstructed view off the rear of the ship. This had not been disclosed. There were a lot of pillars and beams so that we could not take nice photos. And if we looked down, all we saw was the huge veranda of the suite below us. And the occupants of that suite were unhappy because people on an upper public deck were throwing cigarette butts down onto their veranda (fire hazard? unsightly). We had paper airplanes landing on our veranda- not really a problem but weird. The rear verandas have no breeze at all- a bit disappointing. And the distance to any elevator is extreme. The service was good, but it is usually good when traveling with attractive older teenage girls!

Great cruise! by tegheg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We booked with and they were so helpful and easy to work with!  Kacee was our new best friend and went the extra extra extra mile to walk us through the process and make sure everything was completed and ready to go. She called me back and left messages and could not have been more helpful and kind and thorough.  The cruise was wonderful. The ports were fabulous.  The shows were professional and so well done.  The ship brought on local professionals at the stops so we saw authentic irish dancing. authentic scottish proformers.  Everything was perfect.  Even the storm we had to deal with and 12 foot swells didn't put a damper on the trip.

Caribbean Princess cruise not up to Princess Cruises standards by jeffholt0321

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

My wife and I just returned from the 12 day British Isles cruise on the Caribbean Princess. Overall, the cruise fell short of my expectations. My wife and I keep kosher and he chef/server did not get my wife the proper meals she ordered for 3 nights out of the cruise.  We were rudely informed by the head waiter we were late to our assigned meal time one night (but were easily able to finish before the next seating). No accomodation was made for the missing meals after I visited the front desk, which seemed to be staffed with agents who knew very little about actual customer service

The food in the International Cafe was plentiful but awful in quality, especially the desserts. They looked great but were not.

The spa manager (her first name was Gemma) was quite possible the most unpleasasant person I met of the cruise staff.  I tried to cancel a massage appt I had due to illness and was unable to get a refund, so I suffered through it.

The entertainment itself was unexciting and on the average lasted about 30 minutes per show - I expected a bit longer and better quality.

The excursions themselves were overall excellent except for one to the Giants Causeway in Belfast, which we booked through Princess Cruises. The guide was uniformed and generally uninterested after we arrived at the site itself and spent her time smoking and having lunch with her colleagues while we were left to ourselves. We should have been guided throughout.

Our day in Edinburgh was delayed due to the tender ships, so we were not able to get ashore till 11:30 AM when the ship docked around 7am that day.

Finally our stop at Kirkwall had to be cancelled due to weather. While I don't blame Princess for this, it put the final damper on what was already a disappointing ship cruise experience.
