The ship appeared clean and in good working order. Lots of windows for viewing the scenery. Our room was comfortable and had lots of storage, very efficient.

Wonderful Cruise by PDP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We have gone on 2 Caribbean cruises - this was the first cruise to Europe.  The ship was very comfortable  with lots of space in a two-person balcony room, great buffets for both breakfast and lunch, and great service and food in my-time dining.  (Note: we made reservations for my time dining the evening before and had no problem being seated the following night.)

We purchased shore excursions on board and only one tour was full (the  guided walking tour in Pompeii), so we walked the ruins by ourselves.  Suggest buying excursions early if you know what you'd like.  The tour quides used microphones and we had individual headsets which worked best when the guide him/herself had a minimal English accent.  The walking tour of Florence/Pisa was a bit rushed since we covered lots of territory in a few hours, but we enjoyed seeing the highlights of the two cities.  The two talks on board by staff who reviewed the shore excursions were very helpful.   The Guest Services area where you purchased the shore excursions was adjacent to a lounge/music area which made hearing the Guest Services staff difficult at times.

In general, it was a wonderful cruise with lots to do all day and evening, a lovely adult-only Solarium area with a covered pool and hot tub, great shore excursions, especially Venice and Dubrovnik, and fantastic service.

accessible review by dmcowanlaw

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Accessible issues are important to us. The accessible state room was very well designed. The staff was helpful and assisted when needed. However, there was always missed communications or lack of information. When unloading, they never told us in advance of different procedures for wheelchairs, so we would go where instructed only to be told after waiting in line that wheelchairs where off loading at another door. We would have to go to a different part of the ship. Frequently the elevator to that area was locked so they would have to find someone with the key. This was consistent.

Ship was a wonderful size. Not too big as to get lost, but easy to get around.

Great Cruise by majbauer1950

Food selection is not what it used to be. This may be because this cruise catered to Europeans. Vert few Americans were on board

Carnival cut too many corners to put ship back in service. I will go back to RCCL. I have been on 9 cruises longer than a week this last year, and this was the worst.

Horrible Experience by sharalynpayne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

The customer service was so horrible that the best time I had was when I was off the ship. The staff lied, misled information, was unresponsive, unhelpful, and rude.

Loved our Honeymoon on the Mediterranean by jennylynnbm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was great. Our cruise was on October 9th a few days after our wedding. We arrived early and the line to check in was quick in comparison to my cruise in 2007 to Hawaii. The food was amazing. There was a night of lobster and steak and they even gave me seconds and thirds (since I love lobster). Although the lines during dinner rush hour were extremely long the restaurants gave us drinks on the house. On my last night of the cruise I went to the Spa and the assistant manager wasn't very friendly. The woman who gave me a mini facial and a massage was great though. However, I had a bad allergic reaction to whatever they used on my feet, hands, and neck (I have extremely sensitive skin). The actual manager was great about compensating the issue. The housekeeper was great, Filipino service is always awesome. *Tip for the night before: We stayed at Tre Leon (or something of that sort) it's a B&B in Civitavecchia.

Enjoyable Sail by jimmcglashan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Wind Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The size of the ship was perfect. Housekeeping was excellent! Food and wine offerings were very good. Exterior and interior of the ship were showing signs of wear and need to be addressed. Captain and ship's crew were very professional. Check-in experience prior to boarding the ship was not the best. It would have been nice to have had access to shore excursion options prior to starting the cruise. Itinerary was excellent. Laundry option was excellent as was our cabin steward.

An enjoyable trip... by mauryzee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nieuw Amsterdam / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Sailed on the Niew Amsterdam out of Barcelona for 7-day Mediterranean cruise. First time on Holland America and a good choice. Shore excursions were excellent - tour guides knowledgeable and pleasant. We had open seating and found while the food was very good in the main dining room, seating for a party of two was not always easily had.

Costa Serena staff and captain not customer friendly--this poor experience on Costa Serena was different from our much better experience in Costa Magica in April 2013.

A OK cruise by ylee49er

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This may sound silly, but I was disappointed when no live baseball or NFL football games were shown on this cruise. The last Mediterranean cruise with Royal Caribbean I was able to the games live. Instead I get ESPN, who shows materials that are 2 to 4 weeks old. As a sport s fan this was one of the reason why I chose Royal Caribbean. Otherwise, I enjoy the cruise very much.
