Costa Serena staff and captain not customer friendly--this poor experience on Costa Serena was different from our much better experience in Costa Magica in April 2013.

Service at open seating breakfast was poor. Passengers were directed by staff to sit in assigned dining areas like sardines. Subsequently\, half of the wait staff was idle while the other half of the wait staff was overburdened taking care of the seated passengers. A very poor use of human resources was the end result.

Definitely this Costa crew did not go beyond the call of duty. Our room key cards were stolen from our room prior to embarkation. Costa leaves the cabin doors open with the room key cards on the bed for all passengers prior to embarkation. It took one hour to get new cards and we were informed that we would not be subjected to any charges in the stolen room key cards. At disembarkation\, we found 27 Euros in charges on our stolen room key cards that required an additional one hour to receive credit for at disembarkation. It was frustrating to have to deal with this situation and we were made to feel like it was our problem. I was so angry with how I was treated by the Costa crew in attempting to rectify the problem!!!

The air conditioning did not work in the cabin room. It took 72 hours to get the room temperature to a semi-comfortable setting. It took four different requests to get the marginal response provided by Costa!
