I really had no expectations being my first cruise. Would never have booked if NCL indicated smoking was ok for balcony cabins, but clearly it is. Not just outside, but inside. Horrible experience with guest services complaining about the adjacent cabin smelling up my room. Not recognized as a safety issue by guest services even though it's inside and no ashtrays are provided. Nothing was done about it after 3 complaints. Then, after the adjacent cabin had an \"ice-bucket water spill\" (so I was told) that required multiple industrial floor fans to dry the cabin and hallway out, the smoking suddenly stopped for the remainder of the trip. Coincidence? Who knows? But I am miffed that guest services ignored my complaints until my problem became theirs and much bigger.

this is my second trip with holland america. i was disappointed with the eurodam while my previous trip on the zandam was great. pros- food,service cons- poor entertainment,very little shopping on ship (few stores). stateroom small.

This ship compared well with other similar cruises of equal or longer duration that we have taken on other lines. The decor was peaceful and not the garish entertainment type of architecture sometimes seen on cruise ships. Generally, efficiently run in most aspects.

This is a beautiful ship. Eventhough she is about to go into dry dock for refurbishing, she is still very beautiful and well maintained. Everything was always clean, and the crew seemed to take great pride in keeping her that way. After sailing on a frumpy Holland American ship that was about the same vintage, we really appreciated the money and care that had been taken to keep this vessel ship-shape.

The door to the room was too narrow for my walker and the corridors were very narrow and always full of carts making it impossible for me to pass. The food was very good and the crew was wonderful. We did not take any ship sponsored trips but they were very expensive -- we hired taxis and found it to be very satisfactory.

The suite was great. The service was great. Emails from Costa were non-existent. did a great job for us. Food was not up to par with other cruise lines. We really enjoyed the ports.

Dinning staff best in 30 cruises.

Old ship. Floors un-even. A/C in room didn't work. Elevators get stuck. Entertainment was quite poor. No towels in room on arrival. Had to wait several hours. Finally took a shower i a freezing room with the one small towel in room. Food and serevce were very good.

Princess at its best.

This was our first cruise in the Emerald Princess. The route is fantastic due to the numbre of #1 cities to visit during these 11 wonderful days. Excellent Crew. Crew always helpful. Ship still looks like brand new. Restaurants are excellent and food quality very good including the buffet restaurants. Lots of Bars and nightlife options. Not many options for teens older than 17 . Just one activity was programmed the 2nd day.

Enjoyed traveling to the Baltic on such a large and elegant ship.

My family and I truly enjoyed all aspects of this cruise

The ship was very nice and all the staff very courteous and helpful. Staterooms were spacious and housekeeping staff kept them very clean and neat.

Found that the reason this cruise was affordable was because it truely was in need of an upgrade, but looking at other cruises I see why. So I guess we go on the cruise to see the places we want to see not hang out on board the ship, or in our room. If this ship was totally upgraded we probably couldn't afford it so it is what it is. We had a wonderful time and truely enjoyed the people we met as well as the staff. I love the multi cultural air it had.

It was a cruise mee our expectation.

This was our first time sailing with Royal Caribean. We had heard wonderful things and were looking forward to somewhat of a luxurious vacation. Overall, the experience was a good one. The ship looked as though it needed to be updated, although it was immaculately kept. Our stateroom was small and we did not feel met the cost we spent for it. When on board, the entertainment was practically the same every day (Bingo) and had little to do for a young couple. The shows that included dancers was wonderful, but the other shows we went to felt as though they were the B team. We also were disapointed with the lack of information given for those who chose to explore the ports on their own. For example, at our stop in Gdansk, Poland, they failed to let us know that the "shuttle" that you paid $10 per person to take you into town only took you about 7 minutes into another town - Gdynia, Poland. You were then on your own to find transportation to Gdansk. Thankfully we are experienced travelers and were able to find our way there after a visit to the tourist information office. Others with little to no experience may not have even known they weren't in Gdansk.

Ship facilities and service were excellent. Clean, good food, friendly staff.

I like the smaller ships. The large ones have too many people. I thought all the facets were well organized - embarcation, disembarkation, tours and freedom of choice in dining times and restaurants. Staff was friendly in all circumstances. It would be a good idea to have a "Coffee Bar" program similar to the soda program as they do on other carriers.
