Quantium Inagural season by cruzmaven

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

First impressions are always the most important and Quantum delivered..The new terminal at Cape Liberty was great........no lines because they have speeded up the processing........just show your passport for verification/ let them swipe your credit card and away you go.  Once on the ship your room key is waiting outside the cabin in a secured envelope.  Great.  In cabin you will find wrist bands that take the place of your key card.  No need to worry about pockets Wristband becomes the everything card.

Balcony cabins are nice size and well decorated.  Balcony chairs had ottomans to give more of a lounge seating effect.

Overall impression of the ship is one of understate elegance.  Wonderful art installations all over the ship.  Unique and clever.  Don't miss the chandeliers and wall hangings......Museum quality.  They should have an Art tour of the ship

So many different bars and lounges.  You could do a different one every night.

Loved the idea of the bionic bar but it was always crowded so never got to try it . We did try several of the specialty venues including Michael's Genuine which was great.

Another highlight were the shows.  Mama Mia was as good as on Broadway.  Fantastic

I believe that with additional training and more experience the ship will be 5 star.  I will definitely go on this ship again

WOW by CaptainCook01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Went on the 2 night Quantum and WOW next level ship as your walking around your mouth is to the floor.TOP NOTCH.With any new ship, there is some changes and will take time to work the kinks out.The Dynamic dining you NEED to PREBOOK.Many people went up and were rejected due to no reservations.Do not wait til onboard or a week before to book shows and dining or it might not be the best experence.Service was ok and needed a lil touch up but its a new ship and things are ran a lil different than other ships.Overall very great shows and next level ship.Had a great time and would recommend to anyone!!

Quantum Inaugural by StephPeters

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The Quantum overall is a beautiful ship and full of innovation. It's certainly set up for those that love technology. The check-in process at the pier was a breeze and our keycard was waiting for us right outside our cabin door with our WOW bands located inside our cabin so you have the option of either just using the standard card or the wristband for one less thing to carry around on-board.

I highly recommend pre-reserving show times and dinner reservations in advance online. We made reservations for StarWater and dinner for both nights on-board (Chic and American Icon) and it certainly makes a difference to ensure your on-board experience is stress free. There is no main dining room on-board, it's all dynamic dining so it's something to adjust for those who are used to the traditional main dining experience.

I personally didn't experience North Star or iFly but we did do bumper cars up in the SeaPlex which was fun. There's plenty to do to keep kids and kids at heart entertained for hours. We didn't see MamaMia but I heard nothing but good things from friends on-board. The comedian was entertaining and there were several live music and dancing options for the late night crowd. Two70 is a beautiful area of the ship and turns into a late night dance club.

There were definitely some technology and service challenges onboard but it was also an inaugural sailing. Overall it was a great experience.

Beautiful Ship, Give it a shot by WNz6VpuCYPtmSyH3IZpom6NI1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I was fortunate to attend a teo night Cruise to Nowhere on the Quantum on November 21,2014.  First and foremost the Quantum is beautiful.  From the interactive artwork, to all of the motivation posters scattered throughout the ship where amazing.  This was my 6th cruise, and was pleasantly surprised at the balcony stateroom, plenty of storage and space to move around.

Here are the pluses of the Ship: The Seaplex was innovative and well designed.  Upstairs your kids could spend hours playing on the XBoxes or ping pong tables that are set up. Downstairs the SeaPlex acts as a basketball court, trapeeze school, roller scateing to the best feature, the bumper cars. The only thing that I wish would be the bumber cars would go a little faster and the experience was a little longer then the three minutes that they allot.  Next on the  list is Ripcord by Ifly.  If you are unaware of what this is, it gives you the opportunity to simulate skydiving.  The instructors were amazing.  They were funny, encouraging, and very helpful.  If you do not like small spaces this is not the place for you.  I was happy I tried it, but would not run back to do it again, but it maybe due to the fact I felt closed in.

Club 270 was an amazing concept in the cruising industry.  The way the screens changed scenes was incredible.  This was one of the main areas for dancing late at night.  It is a two level area, where the dance floor is centered in the middle of the first floor.

The staff at Michael's Genuine Pub was top notch.  I was only in there a short time the first night, but the staff member knew me by name the next day when I went in to grab a micro brew.

I enjoyed a majority of the ship, but I need to mention a few things.  The Bionic Bar was a novelty part of the ship.  It was fun to watch a robot make my own signature drink, but the wait time and the cost of one drink was a little too much.  I think if they collaborated the robots, they could make this more interesting.  In the two nights, I only went to the Bionic Bar once.  It would have been nicer if they made the space a little larger too - not a lot of space to move around.

The Dynamic Dining was an interesting concept, but I think there is room for improvement.  We went to Silk the first night and American Icon Grill the second night.  The food was decent at Silk, but I feel like I have had better food at a traditional dinning hall on other ships.    Everyone at my table had the steak, and all agreed it was mediocre.  American Icon was better.  The food was tastier, and better presentations.  The service was slow, but I think that is intentional as the cruise lines want you to experience the food, and relax.

Overall, I enjoyed myself on the Quantum.  I do believe they were experiencing some initial bumps, but sure Royal will smooth it out!

Amazing Ship - but, robot bartender hit on my wife. by ShipMateApp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Just kidding. The robot bartender didn't hit on my wife... nor did he laugh at my jokes.

I had an amazing quick, 2-day teaser on the Quantum.  It was the first cold-weather cruise I'd ever been on, but the Quantum offered PLENTY to do indoors.

The focus on technology was obvious and appreciated.  Upon first boarding, we received a really cool watch to replace the normal room card. It had all the same functionality (buying stuff, opening doors) but felt a lot cooler.

The restaurants were outstanding and I'm sad I didn't get to try more. The sushi place had an amazing looking spread of fish, octopus, and other laid out, but I didn't have time to test it, unfortunately. I did try Chic and Silk - both were wonderful.  Get the "Thai Peanut Cheesecake!"

While on board, I did take advantage of the iFly Skydiving.  Total wait time was about an hour... totally worth it.

The robot bartending station was really amusing and didn't realize until I was drunk that I'd been watching these things for over an hour.

My cabin was on the 12th deck (12704) and was the nicest I've had. The balcony and shower were both surprisingly spacious. The bed was super comfortable.

Two70 is a really cool venue that I wished I'd had more time in. The show I attended was great.

One area I also wish I'd spent more time is the Solarium.  It's like a tropical oasis back there and the bartenders make amazing drinks.

Overall, I had no complaints at all. It was one of the best cruises I've ever been on, tying Oasis of the Seas as my favorite.  I'd 100% recommend this ship!

A must see..... by pmorrissey1

Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The entertainment was engaging, the food was great and the rooms where immaculate.  We got a tour of the different room types the ship offers and there is so much to choose from.  I regret not getting to try the north star but highly recommend to others to give it a try!  It was an inaugural sailing for us so too short!!  But I would sail again and felt that we had a very good experience.

DISAPPOINTING by ElaineI

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

RELIES ON TOO MUCH ELECTRONICS. NOTHING WORKS OR IF IT DOES ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME. DYNAMIC DINING RELIES TOO MUCH ON RESERVATIONS, WHICH NEED TO BE MADE BEFORE BOARDING OR ELSE YOU DON'T GET TO ENJOY THE RESTAURANTS OR SHOWS

Cruise was so-so by allenharvey

Food was generally great, but breakfasts in the main dining room were awful (to the point of disgusting). Music on the main deck was vile and not family friendly. Decor was dated.

Great getaway! by Mosey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

What's not to love - plenty of activities, great places to socialize and fantastic dining options. Embarcation was pretty smooth, parking is right next to the port. The Ice Bar in January was probably not as fun as it would be in the warmer months, but it was still worth a visit.

Nice cruise but ship space is very limited/crammed by heracles

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

We have been cruising for 3 years now solely on NCL.  This is our 5th cruise.  We went on Breakaway for a friend's birthday.

Pros:

* Food very good, especially freestyle

* Rock of Ages was great

* Staff was above average, but seemed tired

* we had overall a good time

Cons:  Generally, the space was very crammed and I wonder if they took away public spaces for more cabins...

* Fitness club very small (compared to Epic)

* Le Bistro (the best restaurant) situated in a closet space

* Bliss was too small

Again, overall a good trip but I would have been clausterphobic had I gone for more than 2 nights.  Can't  imagine the 12 day cruises on this ship...  Won't go on it again.  I would recommend the Epic.

Unsanity, Unhealthy! by cuzzinbruce

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Here is what I found to be terribly unhealthy, the glassware in my room was not cleaned and was just put back in place with white paper caps on them as if they were clean. I know this because when I started my cruise I poured some water and saw there was lipstick on the glass and then AFTER THE ROOM WAS MADE UP BY THE ROOM STEWARD, THE SAME, USED, LIPSTICKED GLASS, WAS PLACED BACK IN THE COUNTER WITH ONE OF THOSE PAPER CAPS ON IT, indicating it was a clean glass when it was just, I guess wiped off(how clean could the rag be). How long it was and how many people drank water out of that glass next to the ice bucket I do not know, what I know for a fact is that a dirty glass was placed back as clean. Also there were other dirty things about my room but nothing as disgusting as used drinking glasses!!

Our first time cruising so,we did a short one. We loved it and would lime to do more little cruises like that just to get away from it all and not have to take much time off from work. Cant wait to do it again next year. Wish they had them in the, spring not just cold, months

A nice quick getaway by raobcare

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Fulfilled our desire for a quick getaway. In addition had enough novelty to keep us entertained. The ice bar was unique but cold>could use more options on the drinks .e.g. flavored vodka would have been nice and the supplied hooded ponchos smelled sweaty. Still worth trying though, if only to say you did it. I look forward to cruising the same ship during the warmer season to take advantage of the outside amenities. The Norwegian phone app was very helpful.

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was beautiful and well maintained. The buffet always was full of food and always staffed. The staff was very nice and helpful. Ohhhh get the concierge app for your iPhone! Awesome app it tells you what you have spent and what's going on in the ship and how to navigate around.
