I wish this port was closer to home but it is still one of the best I have used in my nearly 50 years of cruising.

My second time in Galveston and this place is quickly becoming my favorite cruise port city. Do yourself a favor and add a couple of days to explore Galveston pre cruise.

My favorite port by far. Easiest to park and such. Clean facilities. Plenty of room. The pic opportunities aren’t as great as Florida, but who can beat the view there, right?

We drove to Galveston from the Houston Airport Stayed at Springhill Suites by Marriott: free wifi/breakfast overnight parking $85.00 Lighthouse Parking in port: $60.00 covered parking for 5 night cruise Dinner: BLVD seafood it was fine but not amazing! The weather there in January can be cold so bring extra layers (sweaters/scarves/hats) for embarkation and debarkation. It was in the 30s and windy. We did some last minute gathering of supplies at target before we left like Advil/airborne/our two bottles of wine for our cabin.... You know;the important stuff. Bring a pile of ones for tips for your shuttle bag handler and shuttle driver. Lighthouse had great customer service and were grateful to be tipped. As we left the port there were dolphins swimming alongside the boat as the sun was setting. Very special!

Very easy on/off ship. I did self assist leaving and am diamond member for going on. Less than 5 minutes to board. I was surprised going thru customs, no more forms to fill out- they just ask to see your passport to see if photo matches what you look like.

Wasn’t sure where to leave bags, etc (not a lot of signage and it was our first time cruising) but security/check in went quickly! Definitely more prepared for our next cruise.

Not very well thought out. I would NOT follow the advice of the cruise line and drop off your spouse with the luggage at the check in area while you go park the car, nor would I do the reverse when debarking.... traffic jams delayed us by about 90 minutes.

No excursion. Stayed in a town not far from Galveston. Just drove in and got on the ship. Last year we stayed in Galveston and the "motel" was awful and it rained sooo hard! We had to stay there 2 nights! Never again.
