Galveston is a tired old city with a mediocre but functional beach. One cannot describe the place as scenic by any measure. The fortunate thing about the city is its weak economy has lead to the preservation of historical structures. Overall it reminds you of driving through these old Ohio steel towns or southern cities where all the factories have closed down. Plenty of dilapidated buildings and abandoned railroad tracks overgrown with weeds. Traffic flow at the cruise terminal is horrible and there is really no excuse since there are only two ships in port at a time and there is plenty of room to better execute traffic flow.
