My first cruise was amazing! I highly recommend anyone to take one. 8 days was perfect, not long enough however. There is so much to do on board it is ridiculous. So much fun and everyone is so friendly. You get a family at the end of the cruise and it makes it bitter sweet to leave.

There are going to be crowds. You will have to wait in long lines. It will be a slow process to board the ship. Be patient. Think happy thoughts. Remember that you are about to go on a cruise. You and 6000 new friends are about to float on water for 6 days. It’s going to be a blast!

For this being my first cruise and not knowing what to expect. This was the smoothest, fastest boarding process I have seen. The ride to the port was quick and short. The boarding was quick and short. No long lines

My home. Born & raised here all my life. A place full of diverse people, a plethora of food choices, and a wide range of different things to do. Closest tourist spots next to the port are Bayside (indoor/outdoor mall that looks out onto the bay), PAMM (a contemporary art museum), & the Frost Museum (Miami’s newest interactive science museum)

Arrived in Miami 2 days before cruise and stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay. Excellent hotel. Staff are super nice and helpful. I arrived before my room was ready, hotel offer to hold my luggage while I explore the area. They text my phone when my room was available. They also offer a shuttle to the port for $7.50 per person, you can either charge it to the room or pay the driver upon pick up. The hotel even text me during my visit to make sure everything was okay with my room. The hotel has 6 restaurant and few shops. Located in the shop area, are couple of places that offer massages and a place to rent a boat, jet pack, jet ski or a ride on the banana boat. There are free trolleys in the area to help get you around town. I visited Bayside Marketplace for some food/drinks and live music. Bayside Marketplace has vendors for speedboat tour or regular boat tour, Hop on/hop off bus tours of the city, and everglades water tours in additional to places to shop. Wynwood Art District is must see as well. They have plenty of awesome wall art. I went on a Sunday, so there were street vendors and food trucks around. Within walking distance from the hotel is a Publix supermarket, great if you like to have snacks and wine in the room 😬.

Miami is lively, it’s where the party is, it never stops. We live in Fort Lauderdale so we spend a lot of time in Miami. Our recommendation is to have fun, drink, party, and shop if your on vacation. If you are staying for a couple nights I recommend the Rusty Pelican for dinner. I’m bias because I got engaged there. But it has the most beautiful views of Miami and the sunset is very nice, oh and the food is delicious. Go shopping! There are many shops on Lincoln road but also many major malls in the area. With that being said, don’t hesitate to go into a Marshall’s or TJ Max in Soflo (they are loaded with designer brands and very cheap. They are not like the marshalls and TJ Max’s across the country). Be open to try new cultures and new food in Miami because that’s what it is. Have some Cuban, have some Puerto Rican at La Placita, or maybe Colombian is what your craving. The main strip on South Beach is really cool for photos but all the food is average at best and triple the price. Go a street or so back or go into Miami and have a touch of real culture and real food. Enjoy your trip to Miami, I moved down 5 years ago from Pennsylvania and have never looked back. Research some places to eat before you come down.

How can one be bored in Miami? There’s always something to do, see and eat! I always enjoy myself when I’m here. Love the vibes and sets the tone for vacation

Love Miami! It’s never a cheap trip but I’ve learned to plan early and surf the Internet for deals. Groupon and Hilton Honor points come in handy when coming to South Beach Can’t wait to come back in January for a day before for cruising out on Norwegian Sky.
