I live in South Florida so we did not do an excursion here however we did arrive a day early and stayed at the Hampton Inn to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The hotel was close to restaurants plus I was able to leave my car here during our cruise and used their shuttle service to and from the port. Way cheaper than parking at the port.

We live in FL, close to the port so we did not really explore it, but FT. Lauderdale is always great to go around.

We stayed at the Hilton garden inn and it was very nice. Friendly and clean with a great pool.

Be sure to take the river cruise to see the city. The Hollywood Beach broad walk is also a lot of fun! Rendezvous Restaurant, just a block off Rt. 84 at I-95 serves outstanding food on a marina of the South Fork of the New River. A 10 minute walk away is the beautiful Secret Woods Nature Center with multiple elevated walkways -- and it's free!

Just embarked at this port which offers many reasonable priced quality hotels for pre-cruise stays.

The arrival was good, no excursion, departing was very bad, this could be the lack of knowledge from our travel agent or just that we didn't ask enough questions, we did an excursion before departing which was really cool, the everglades and ate Alligator bites (first time), the issue with the departure was my flight was at 5:09 pm, ship arrival was at 7:00am departed the ship at 8:30am if I did not do the excursion we would have made it to the airport no later then 9:20am, once we arrived it was then that we were told that you could not check in till 4hrs prior to your flight meaning that we would have had to sit outside the terminal till 1:09pm, with no place to get food and to carry all that luggage you just took from the ship. Fortunatly we did the excursion and arrived at the airport at around 11:30 so not much of a wait but it would have been nice to know this upfront then I could have arranged an earlier flight so it would not have happened.

It was nice. We came down a few days early and explored. A lot to do in the area if you have time to kill. Beautiful beaches and great shopping.
