We are not folks who spend a lot on excursions. We enjoy walking around town at our own pace. There is plenty to see and, on longer cruises, plenty of opportunity for a good walk that will not bore you.

If you’re not from SoCal, take time to check out Gaslamp District where all the restaurants and fun bars are. There’s also Coronado beach which is on the other side of the bay. Here you’ll feel like you’re on a separate island with small beaches, restaurants and boutique shops. We usually rent a 4 person bike for 30 min ($15-20) and ride around the beach area. If you have money to spend check out San Diego Zoo, Animal Safari, Legoland in Carlsbad or Seaworld. Enjoy! SD has the best weather.

I cannot rave enough about San Diego. I used to go there once a year for my work staying near Sea Port Village. It was like going home again after being away 10 years. There were some changes, but the overall atmosphere was the same. It is a wonderful city to visit.

Our very 1st cruise; many moons ago, was on the Monarch of the Seas with Royal Caribbean. We went to the USS Midway and enjoyed that immensely and then we went to shoreline village and had lunch then back on the ship. Looking forward to seeing all the changes and gaslamp alley as the party that we are going with won't be able to do all those stairs inside the Midway.
