Did the 17 mile drive tour. Disappointing in the fact that if you sat on the wrong side of the bus, you never saw anything. People should have to switch seats part way through so everyone can enjoy the view at some point. Very expensive to see nothing unless we got off the bus. Tour guide was FANTASTIC! Gave us a lot of history and explained so much about the area.

We have friends that live in Monterey. They picked us up and took us down Hwy 1 to Pebble Beach for lunch. Caramel is a good visit as well as Cannery Row. Beyond that, the ship does not dock, they anchor and transport you to shore by the life saving boats. That was pretty cool.

We didn’t care for the movie tour booked through Princess. The bus was packed, seats small. It was very hard to see, especially without a window seat. It was raining too. The guide was knowledgeable.

I enjoyed this port. The walking was easy and not too far from the dock. Beautiful.

I highly recommend the Sea Car Tour. It’s located in Portola Hotel walking distance from cruise port. You can rent the little yellow car for $65 for one hour. The GPS that comes with the car guides you to several points of interest. It attracts a lot of attends your drives it around town.

We love Monterey and there is much to see there, the aquarium, Carmel, Pebble Beack, 17 mile drive. However I believe that because this was a relocation cruise Celebrity's excursion department didn't have established relationsjips with shore vendors, hence there were some issues. Monterey is a tender port and after tendering to shore our group waited over an hour on the dock in a cold, damp mist. We were told there simply were'nt enough buses. How can that be you know how many tickets you've sold ? Once on a bus our guide was amazing and she made up for the bad start with her wit, humor and knowledge she was absolutley superb. However upon retruning to the ship we found that others had been crammed onto shore excursion busess some folks even having to stand during portions of their drives.
