We participated in a ghost tour excursion. Very entertaining and informative. Shopping is great at the outlet mall if you are needing to kill some time.

This was the worst experience ever in the cruse terminal trying to check in. People were exiting the ship through the same doors as the new group came in. Workers did not know what was going on. This was November 11th. Exiting the ship was a piece of cake. Easy walk to town.

Awesome. Never get tired of New Orleans. For this trip we took The City of New Orleans Amtrak train as a first and loved it. Highly recommend but only if you want to have a laid back mode of transportation. Particularly, on the return home it was slow. We got in at 7 am and didn't get home until 10:30 pm. I did discover that we could check our bags at the port and wander around the french quarter until time to board the train. Then we just caught a cab with our bags to the Union Station around noon. Had coffee at the Cafe at that riverfront mall and enjoyed a very low key walk around.

I only gave NOLA 4 stars, because we stayed in the French Quarter, not far from Bourbon St, and felt the area was absolutely filthy dirty. Disgustingly dirty. We actually saw vomit and urine on the streets. Since my hubby is primarily a beef eater, we had trouble finding someplace within walking distance of our hotel that wasn’t primarily seafood and creole. And food was outrageous in price! We saw steak prices from $40-65! We were happier when we ventured out of the French Quarter. We rode the Red Line streetcar to Jackson Square, the cathedral, the French Market. Green Line streetcar will take you all the way to the Garden District, which is absolutely beautiful with many mansions. If we cruise out of NOLA again, we will not stay in the French Quarter again. Too many drunks, band just filthy.

Embark off the ship at the port was decent. One of the workers was a bit rude, but most of the others were nice. There was a lot of COVID confusion as to what’s needed and what isn’t for an NCL cruise. There is cruise parking right at the port (we didn’t use it but that’s really nice). They didn’t really give you any info on the port and services they offer. They also don’t have much signage as to where you go and the space getting into the start of the check in line is pretty small, especially if ships are disembarking. Disembark was a lot worse. There was a lot of confusion. We wish they let us know they would check your bags for the day if you have a late flight because we would have done that, but kept our pre-booked transfer instead. It would have been nice to walk around NO for a bit, but we would have lost $100 if we did. Again…not much signage and a lot of workers yelling and telling us where to go. Had to wait for 30-40 minutes for a transfer.
