We had been to Vila before approx. 10 years ago and noticed the difference with better infrastructure and development on display. They have a set up a good sized market with the inevitable products right at the port so if you don’t want to go int9 town you don’t have to. We shared a taxi van for AUD$5 each into town which is a few kms from the Ship. There really isn’t much in the town. There are some bars and cafe/bars and quiet a few duty free shops with product of dubious origin and genuineness but for all that it is what is is and as a small city it was relatively clean and organised. Unfortunately the Ship excursion to go snorkelling on the reef of Arariki(?) island was cancelled unexpectedly about 30 minutes before we were to assemble so that was a great let down, hence we donned our hiking boots and legged it into the city centre and back. We had a friend staying at the resort on Arariki(?) Island and this resort is spoken very highly about.

We organised our own private tour and visited a local school, Blue Lagoon, Turtle Bay and Vanuatu Chocolate Factory. Was a fabulous tour and highly recommend all especially Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay!
