Practice your French beforehand if you want to wander away from port.

I was really looking forward to Papeete, but found it disappointing. Cruising is a great way to get a sample of somewhere I might consider going to holiday. Sadly Papeete didn’t make the list of places to revisit.

The only way we were able to see Tahiti was to add a day (at extra expense) otherwise we would have boarded the ship and began sailing before dawn! WE paid for a deviation because the flight was not satisfactory to see the island before cruising!!!!!

OMG, can't say enough about this Island. We did a sail & snorkel plus an Island Tour. If you go to this Island, get off the ship and explore. Absolutely stunning.

If only in port for the day, take the ferry across to Moreea island. Then grab a taxi to a resort in the lagoon. The lagoon is just so clean and clear, great for snorkelling. Kid friendly and family safe.
