Great day out with friends. Docks in Mt Maunganui which is best part of Tauranga to visit from. Swimming beach about 100m walk from boat and a climb of Mt Maunganui is well worth it for av fitness

This is one of the prettiest ports. We did not do an excursion, instead we bought ourselves a 90 minute massage and entry to the Hot Pools at the base of Mount Manganui. This is about a 20 minute casual walk from the ship.

We walked around Mount Maunganui which took just under an hour. Headed back to the port to get a bus into Tauranga (too far to walk). I needed to get my glasses fixed and was super impressed when the store fixed them for free while I waited.

Our favorite port! We went to Te Puia Thermal Reserve home to the recreation of an early Maori village where they greeted us with a traditional Haka Welcome Ceremony followed by a beautiful dance by the women. The magnificent Pohutu Geyser , boiling mud and National Carving School is also there. From there we went to the Agrodome where we saw a sheep shearing and demonstration of the herding Sheep Dogs!
