Don’t believe all the hype about the train station. I wasn’t impressed. I think I would have done better just staying on the ship and visiting the area around the port.

Great city but I do think the shuttle bus organised through the ship is overpriced of $25 USD. Would recommend getting the local bus from Port Chalmers.

Did not anchor in Dunedin as scheduled because we were off schedule due to extra days at sea. Originally we were to anchor at 5he port at Dunedin which would give us the opportunity to explore Dunedin on foot from the boat. We end3d up at another industrial port and needed to be bussed 30 minutes into Dunedin to a train ride to see the countryside. While the train ride was enjoyable, I don’t feel as if I saw Dunedin.

A beautiful bucolic town, Port Chalmers, but Dunedin was absolutely beautiful! Loved the old and new architecture, as well the train station and the ease of walking around! People were fantastic, helpful and willing to give directions and make recommendations!
