Nice little town. Unfortunately it was very windy and cold that day so we couldn't do much other than stroll around town and quickly went back to the ship. No excursion.

Burnie is a cool little town with a maker’s center, where they show the various local crafts. The center has a small cafe with local food, whiskey, and wine, and the gift shop area has tons of local craft and other local items from which to choose. On the small beach next to the maker’s workshop, there are little huts for the penguins that nest there. We took off our shoes and waded in a bit, although the weather was a bit cold the day we were there. The coolest other things were the greeting by the Mayor and his wife, right when we exited the ship; the townspeople - extremely nice and go out of their way to help you; the free shuttles provided by the town for those not wanting to go on an excursion; and the bookshop. Burnie is definitely an up and coming stop for tourists.
