The port was nothing startling, but Puerto Vargas, Frutillar and our drive round the lake was really memorable. We took a shared taxi and saw more than the organised tours.

Did a private excursion with GV tours. Excellent and attentive service. Would definitely recommend them. The tour itself was very scenic and beautiful. We went to Frutillar and Puerto Varas. BEAUTIFUL.

When I laid out our excursions in Puerto Montt, Princess offered two attractions, the volcano (Osorno) and the lake (Esmeralda). We'd have gone for the volcano except for something we heard in Alaska: 70% of the people who go, don't see Denali. Clouds hide the summit. We guessed it could be true for Chilean volcanoes, too. So we settled for Lake Esmeralda, a good choice. The mountain was missing, shrouded in clouds, while we sailed around the lake, and we loved being out on the water.
