It will be our 3rd trip to Buenos Aires. This time we have 5 days before joining the cruise so we are going to the Sunday Feria in Mataderos. Last time we went to a great wine tasting in Palermo, visited the cemetery in Recoleta and thoroughly enjoyed the tango show.

Nice place but unfortunately the weather was awful and we didn’t see much from rainy coach windows.

Loved this port!!!! You must have the beef it’s simply the best. The bike tour excursion is phenomenal. Please be careful and leave jewelry ie your Rolex in your stateroom. See the tango dancers !!!

The port is fine. We took a hop-on-hop off bus excursion, which allowed us to see the whole city and decide where to spend more time. The only downside was the 3 km tunnel for truck traffic that they are building and that is disrupting the main part of the historic center.

Beuatiful city, tour hit a lot of the high points. I did NOT sing "don't cry for me Argentina" at Eva Peron's tomb, but I did hum it very softly. The Tigre delta cruise a lunch were fantastic.

We stayed a few days at the end. Many, many warnings about personal security, especially at night but we never felt unsafe after taking sensible precautions e.g. no jewellery, cameras or other valuables on display and keep your handbags secure. A nigh-on 4hr HOHO bus ride on our last day showed what a vast city it is and you only have to go a mile or so from the centre to see some beautiful parts. The modern area of Puerto Modero is very nice with lots of expensive restaurants and bars. MUST DO a tango show. We went to El Viejo Almacén which we were told was a more traditional show thoroughly enjoyed it. All prices were given in USD but we paid in Pesos and I reckon g it was 50% cheaper in doing so i.e.quote was USD 120 each but with our ‘blue dollar’ rate Pesos, it came out at about USD 65.

We actually had three tours since we were in Buenos Aires for three days thanks to Holland America's generous two extra days for veranda suite passengers. The first excursion was on the first day while we were in port and it was a full day excursion to a Gaucho Ranch. That was the best tour of the trip. Demonstrations of horseback riding, carriage rides and horseback rides for all the people that wanted to go around the ranch, about a 25-minute ride that was really nice. We got to explore the beautiful grounds and home. Other people took carriage rides. Then we had a wonderful lunch of steak, ribs, chicken, and more beef. The beef was excellent, some of the best I have ever had. Following that we had a wonderful tango show, the best of the trip and they did not mind you filming the entire show. It was about an hour outside of Buenos Aires. The next day we got off the ship and checked into the nice hotel, the only problem was we got off at 9:00 and could not check in until 3:00. We had a wonderful evening tour that went on a river cruise that showed what locals did on long summer evenings at their riverside cabins. So many boats and water skiing. We then ended up at an art museum where we had a tour of the museum and then on the outdoor second floor patio area, we had dinner and numerous tango dancers taking turns in different areas of the seated guests. It was a wonderful evening. The weather was perfect. The next day we took a city tour that took us to all of the famous areas of Buenos Aires. We got to see all of the local sights including the Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. That and the colorful Boca area were two of the highlights. We got to see the cathedral where the Pope use to preach, the governmental palace and monuments including the Obelisk that looks so much like the Washington monument. After the tour I walked down to the "Floralis Generica" mechanical flower that opens and closes mechanically each morning and night. I ended the day by going through the impressive art museum near there. In all it was a really good day. The next day we had to check out at noon for a 5PM pick up and tour back through the city to the airport and the long flight back to the states.
