If we had to return, we wouldn’t get off the ship.

Cool little beach town. Lots of surfing and surfers around. Did a private taxie tour to the Lake and Rivas. Was impressed by the countryside. Clean and rolling terrain. Mostly cattle ranches. We would like to come back here to stay a week.

Nicaragua was a mixed bag. We went on an excursion to Granada and I thought it was somewhat comparable to Guatemala, but my husband hated it! He thought it was dirty and unfriendly and he couldn't get back on the ship fast enough. I liked Granada, although it didn't have quite the charm of Antigua with its cobblestone streets and such nor was the climate nearly as inviting as Antigua. But, the buildings in Granada were very impressive and seemed to be well maintained, especially around the central plaza.

Emphasis on tourists at the port. Nothing much else to see in the vicinity; in hindsight I should have taken a cab to thr volcano

We did a tour to a hacienda where we got a great view of the volcanoes. We also went to Rivas where were toured the old church. The highlight of this tour was the guide, who was very informative about the history and politics of Nicaragua, and the changes that are now under way, and in the makings.

This is a very financially poor port. all the excursions were all day excursions. There is a mile Long Beach in San Juan Del Sur and we thought we would hang on the beach—didn’t want to go 4 hours into Nicaragua. The beach is so-so. We walked along it, but did not swim

Did an excursion here. Spent a long time on a bus to get a ride on a lake.

We just walked around town and went through a chocolate making class. Very fun. Then had a drink at a beach restaurant. Most of the excursions were like 6-7 hours long and long time in the car or bus. Did not interest us at all.
