Wonderful day in the rain forest. We were part of a small group of 6 that took a nice van to feed the monkeys, see the large parrots, toucans, and people native to the area. We conclude with a drink at a small restaurant with a great vista view of the shoreline. Only $25/person

Rail/River and folklore tour. Rail was useless, but river was great. Folk dances were nice.

Not a great port. Didn't do an excursion because they were expensive and not good reviews. Weather was hot in late March but fine if in shade or near water. The people were very nice. Some street vendors but they were pleasant and only asked once. Souvenier stands expensive. Tourism person offers free walking tour map. Started to walk around town but pretty dirty and urban decay. Wife did not feel comfortable. Instead we walked along the boardwalk to the Marina Park. Admission was $10. Inside was exhibits with crocodiles, turtles, sharks, and aquariums with interesting fish. Not Sea World by any comparison... The beach is right at the dock. It has dark sand. Very hot to touch! The water is very murky. It is the perfect temperature but not pleasant to swim in. Local tour guide offered to take us on 90 minute taxi ride to see some crocodiles for $40 each. No thank you. I'm sure Costa Rica is beautiful but here, not so much.

Tour buses are allowed to drive up onto the dock so no long walk is required.

We enjoyed a private all day tour with "Thumbs Up Tours" in Puntaenas. Our local guide was so awesome we loved the enter tour. My roommate accidently left her wallet in the vehicle. They found it before leaving the port area and made sure it was returned to her before we sailed away.

We did the "best of Costa Rica" excursion. We had a very late start due to a miscommunication between the ship and the tour operators. The ship waited for us and we got 50% off! That's making it right!
