Costa Rica is the most beautiful country and i'm so glad I did the full day tour into the high country to a coffee plantation. It was so hot and humid on the coast, so the cool interior was a welcome change. We had several stops on the way including a great shop with an amazing painted exterior, covered in paintings of local birds, traditional buildings and carts. The tour of the coffee plantation was really interesting and included a lovely lunch of local food, plus the chance to taste all of the different types of coffee they sold. Just make sure to buy some to take home. A note to Aussies - you can bring it back. Just make sure you declare it though.

San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua: is now a “suffer haven”. The history of this place was unknown to us and a great surprise as to the importance it had for the California Gold Rush. We did not take a tour here and just went into town (small village) to see the area. We would not recommend wandering about without a guide.

Optional tour of a Sarch Oxcart artistry and a botanical garden. A little offbeat but the artisans who build and decorate these carts are something to behold. The botanical garden was okay but in these areas, there was mostly greenery as opposed to flowering plants.

We did a 25 segment zip line that we go through cruises.com. IT WAS AMAZING. We saw 11 water falls. the longest segment was approximately 2/10 mile.

Beautiful country. We visited the botanical gardens and coffee plantation. The guides were well informed and very knowledgeable about their country.
