We booked the Monkey Watch & Canal Nature Cruise through HAL. Water was a bit rough so tendering took longer that scheduled but everyone worked hard to get us back on track. The tour involved a bus ride with informative descriptions to the river where we transferred to small river boats. We saw lots of birds, iguanas and of course monkeys. The smaller boats gave a completely different perspective on that waters that we cruised on the day before. Bus back to the pier allowed for more interesting descriptions of the area and history. We would definitely book this tour again. If a tour is not booked there is a great walking area and gift shops where the tender docks so lots to see and do on your own right at the port.

We enjoyed this visit however return tender journey was a nightmare with waits up to 31/2 hours in the port terminal if you were lucky if not outside in the full sun .Very poor organisation for the return with 1800 passengers all arriving at roughly the same time

The smaller transports for excursions are cramped and just a smidge bigger than a mini-bus. Beware before you book. Also keep in mind that this is a tender port and often quite windy which whips up the water a bit. The tender ride is a choppy adventure and getting on/off the tender can be intimidating for the less physically abled.

We did a brief boat ride excursion and I saw the Howlers, Red Necked Tamarins, Capuchins, and sloths I had hoped to see. Friendly and informative guides, made it all the better. There was a long delay with the tenders, and we did have to wait a long time, but except for not knowing how long we were going to have to wait, I didn't let it ruin my experience. We still went, and that one hour wait, was just a hour moved from sitting on the ship after the tour to before. A lot of people canceled excursions and were extremely angry about the wait, but the only ones that anger affected were themselves. The ship did what they could, and our excursion was not affected at all.
