There appears to be a lot of poverty in Colon, not safe to walk around. There is an area for tourists, we visited one store there, but then headed back to the ship.

Port out side of the gate is dirty, under construction, poor directions, escpecially if you want walk around, almost scary in spots! Only real disappointment from this trip! We walked to the free zone shopping area and it wasnt any better!

Got off the ship, looked around outside of the terminal and got right back on the ship because it looked very sketchy. Very sad. We were only docked there for 2 hours, mostly to pick up the people who did shore excursions.

Took 7 hour excursion to the Panama Canal and Panama City. Both were very interesting.

The locks are maintained and very clean. The rest of the country is not.

Port strange, however if you can get out of Colon to rainforest or old fort it is worth it. If staying in Panama City the train from Panama City to Colon is worth the early morning.

went to a flea market and a mall in a taxi. My companion wanted a Panama hat so the Taxi driver took us to a small flea market that had prices that were a fraction of the mall prices. We shared the taxi with another couple.

Took the bus to the Pacific Side then got on the train for the ride back. Amazed at the locks, and the lake is HUGE.
