Safe and welcoming. Be aware that you will be panhandled. Just smile and say "No por favor" and they will not continue. The skyline looks like a little Miami. Make sure to visit the aviary near the docks. It has the most amazing group of rescued flamingoes and parrots I have ever seen. The birds will literally fly to you and some will perch on your shoulder. Very friendly. No cages or nets. The birds don't leave because they like people since they were rescued from private homes

There is a place right off of the pier, within walking distance, that has so many birds, monkeys, peacocks, parrots, flamingo…and the best was that I got to hold a baby sloth! It was the highlight of my entire trip.

I want to go back! Very colorful with a lot of history. Someone should really open a Pirate Museum here with all the history of Spanish Galleons and such. We went to the high hill and overlooked the city from the church. Don't go into the Fort, not much to see, instead speand your time around the city.
