3 stars blended since I give Belize City zero stars and Caye Caulker after the water taxi ride 5 stars. We did not do an excursion. My wife and daughter stayed in Belize and were miserable. The two boys and I took the water taxi to Caye Caulker, rented a golf cart for the island, rented jet skis and snorkled the barrier reef. Have a cocktail at the Lazy Lizard at the split created by a hurricane (Hugo maybe?? But that may be the Lazy Lizard cocktails affecting my memory.) Caye Caulker food was great, island was so secluded and remote, we have vacationed there without a cruise 4 times since 2005. Excellent scuba, snorkeling and atmosphere with no one pushing merchandise on you.

Absolutely loved this country! We did a man ruins tour and river ride.I believe that the ruins sre only accessible by boat. Our guides Bernie and his brother Nuri were AMAZING!!! We played trivia on the bus ride and won prizes. Jerry was out river boat captain. He got us there and back safe and sound. The boat ride was beautiful. Nuri is very knowledgeable about the ruins. You can tell they love thier jobs. Our lunch break was fantastic here! We saw wild iguanas and wild howler monkeys. Great guides, great tour, great food. Nothing we could complain about. Not even the rain.

We did the Belize by Carriage excursion, and Belize is definitely an up and coming port. Loved seeing some history of the city and learning about it, and the tour guides were awesome.

We visited Belize on August 25th and had a fantastic time. The only reason I gave Belize a 4 star rating is because the tender ride lasted 35 minutes one way, and because if you venture off on the island your looking at a minimum 1 hour drive each way to visit any attractions. We booked a private excursion with King David’s Altournative Belize Services. Let me just say King David gets a 5+ star review! We spent the entire day with King David, 6.5 hours. We booked a tour to see Altun Ha Mayan Ruins and to go cave tubing. King David picked us up at the port gate as soon as we arrived and we headed straight to the ruins. We were the first people there so we had the entire place to ourselves and we beat the scorching summer heat by going early. Seeing Altun Ha was amazing! We stayed at the ruins exploring for about an hour with King David telling us all about the Mayan culture, there were several different structures to see here. After that we headed off to go cave tubing. King David called ahead for our lunch of Belizean cuisine that we decided to take on the road with us to save time. It was delicious! When we arrived at the cave tubing site we headed off with King David and our tubes were waiting for us at the entrance (lots of other groups were carrying their tubes). The caves and the structures in them were so beautiful to see, and lucky for us we weren’t tied to a large group of people. King David had us back to the port area with enough time to grab a quick souvenir and catch the tender back to our ship. The price we paid for this tour was beyond worth the money. We would have spent more just seeing the ruins with Carnival. If your going to Belize make sure to look for King David, his personal service and dedication to his guests are unmatched!

Port was nice with more unique shopping. Saw a few restaurants too. We went cave tubing at Jaguar Paw. The experience was great. Walked about a mile into the forest and had the opportunity to eat a termite! Then got into a tube and was guided down the river into the caves. Saw a waterfall and many stalagmites and stalactites. Then enjoyed a lunch of chicken and beans and rice. Also try a Belizean coke! Very yummy. This tour is about a 1 hour drive each way. But I enjoyed seeing and hearing about the country by a great energetic guide.
