We took a cab which we shared and the driver gave us a tour. He was an excellent tour guide,very knowledgeable about his country's history and an excellent driver. It was the country's independence so we could get in to town,but what we saw was enough. the shopping was good too.

For Belize, it’s best to book an excursion ahead of time through the cruise. Port is small with lots of gift shops and a few restaurant. Tourists are prohibited from going to other parts Belize unless they book some type of excursions.

Lamanai boat tour was amazing. They guides know that river like the back of their hands. We went fast and slow if they saw something we would like to check out. The site itself will blow you away and you can climb one of the pyramids. Be sure and book through the ship for this one though. We were an hour late back to the ship 5:30/6 and they waited because it was through them.

Rained very hard the whole time. We were scheduled for an excursion to Maya pyramid, but was canceled due to weather. This port requires a tender. The comment of having an excursion, or stay on the ship is a good one. Nothing much to see pier side. I would do this once, but would stay on ship if I do not have a planned excursion.
