Young students were out of school to greet us when the ship arrived. They offered help (in English) with any questions we might have and for their opportunity to practice English. So impressive! We also met new friends on this cruise and we all wandered around Chinatown and found some great Japanese sea delicasies in various small restaurants. Streets were spotlessly clean and everyone was so courteous and helpful. So much to see and do safely.

Princess kept cancelling land tours so we had to settle for one we didn't really want. It was nevertheless a good excursion.

We didn't get to see a lot of the city, but what we did see was pleasant. Easy to navigate the metro (much simpler than Tokyo!), and felt tourist-friendly.

We arrived and toured Tokyo 5 days ahead of our first cruise. Did a two day Tours- by-locals. The Toyko Metro was insanely busy, complex and had lots of stairs (some small lifts). So glad we had a guide. Saw local shrines and temples along with the imperial palace. First day was rainy but that kept the crowds to a minimum. Second day was broken cloud with some rain and cloudy periods. Crowded at some shrine and shop points. We missed the cherry blossom season by a couple of weeks as it was early this year. Azaleas were however on display.

Tokyo and area were wonderful and the quick tour of the city on our last day was a bit rushed, but still we enjoyed it tremendously.
